not sure how schenn makes any sense for the leafs compared to laughton, schenn is 33 and is basically a 45 point player now signed for another 3 years at 6.5M. Laughton only has one more year left on his deal at 3M.

There's a "world" where next year, the Leafs could go forward with Matthews, Schenn and Minten as their top 3 Cs and not be in gross need of a massive upgrade.

On the flip side, for Laughton, here's a guy who's never scored 20 goals in a season, with a career high of 43 points. An ideal 3rd line C, but not exactly the guy you want jumping up the lineup in case of injury.

Upgrade on the Jets 4th line? Replace Gus or Kupari on the 4th line thats the only upgrade he is. He would slide in as a 4th liner and an injury replacement higher in the lineup if needed.

Chevy won't mess with the 3rd line chemistry which works great. Laughton isn't a top 6 player.

Meh, maybe if he comes dirt cheap otherwise don't overly care.

Chevy should be focused on getting a 2C (bumping Names to 4C) and 3rd pairing LHD (replacing Stanley) upgrades, both more important then a 4th line winger upgrade.

Why are we listening to Anthony Di Marco?

Isn't this the hack from The Hockey News?

The only way they’re moving Laughton is if it’s overpayment. Hes the glue of the flyers locker room, they love the man more than life itself.

Showing charts for one of the worst teams is interesting.

Did I say he was bad? Nope, I like him but just not a great need for him.

He’s just not much of an upgrade over anyone in a critical role.

Top 6 player? Obviously no, I mean unless the Jets want to roll with a 3rd line centre as their 2C in the form of Lowry, Names or Laughton. But seems very unlikely, unless all other top 6 options are hard no’s league wide. So small chance this could be true IMO

3rd line? As I stated Chevy isn’t messing with maybe the best checking line in the league.

Only leaves the 4th line to upgrade. Plus if someone in the top 9 gets hurts sure he can slide into that role.

What have I said that you strongly disagree with? Jets success is largely due to its depth.

PS, that graph is a three year weighted average of his results including two of his three best years.

Has 1 year left at just $3 million so you get him for 2 playoff runs. Can play LW or C. Excellent PKer that is a shorthanded goal threat. Good wrist shot. Makes mistakes around both blue lines from time to time.

In the Bjorkstrand thread, someone mentioned a line of Ehlers and Bjorkstrand. I’m thinking if we can get the right 2C, and then grab OB that could be a dangerous line.
As for bottom pairing LHD, I’m hoping Chevy grabs Dumoulin

Maybe that's a sign that the glue ain't working so well

Teams will be content with him if their expectations are a good bottom 6 center. He has had a rough season this year but so have a lot of Flyers. If he’s traded the Flyers will have comically bad center depth and it’s not like Laughton was anything special to start with. As for what he goes for, I’m not sure

1st for Laughton & Risto @ 50%?

As I stated previously, I like Laughton but the Jets have much bigger needs than he can fill. I would sooner see the Jets take whatever asset Laughton would return and apply it towards a true 2C.

I mean if the Jets upgrade 2C and 3rd pairing LHD, then still want Laughton as a bottom six forward sure go for it assuming the price is right (factoring in his term).
