probably time to move him to the pen. this is 2yrs of crap now.

I read this post at the top of the page with absolutely zero context, initially thought it related to the below and was going to commend that greatness of the hot take

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/08/al-news-rumors-mariners-twins-tigers-jays.html

There's no timetable for a comeback for Blue Jays right-hander Aaron Sanchez, who has dealt with blister issues throughout the season, per David Singh of Sportsnet. If Sanchez does return, he could finish the year in the bullpen, according to manager John Gibbons. With the minor league season nearing an end, there might not be enough time for Sanchez to ramp back up via rehab starts, observes Singh. The 25-year-old Sanchez's injury woes have been one of the key reasons behind the Blue Jays disappointing 2017. Sanchez dazzled in 2016 - his first year as a full-time member of Toronto's rotation - with 30 starts and 192 innings of 3.00 ERA pitching, but he has taken the ball just eight times this season.

So does Zeuch suck?

Haha I know its early but his season has been extremely disapointing especially considering hes already 22.

actually his season was looking solid before the injury. all his fips lijed up nicely and they werr paired with a great groundball rate. he's gonna be solid imo. what we hoped we were getting sith mcguire/jenkins but actually for real this time.

Big praise for Pearson

still don't quite understand how he fell all the way to us. 100mph with command. good feel for the changeup. and 2 breakers with potential. and only 20. that is so much more to work with than most of the guys taken ahead of him.

scouts must really really not like junior college guys.

He got hurt in high school and had surgery (with, I think, screws and hardware in his elbow/arm). I think there was concern that he was an injury risk because of that history.

Against my better judgement, I clicked on that Sportsnet article about Goins' RISP success.

And then I found the comment where someone (apparently genuinely) suggested Goins should bat 4th.

I have stared into the abyss. And it has stared back at me.

95% of the posters from this sportsnet articles are absolutely drinking the Goins kool aid. They actually believe that Goins is a gold glove quality SS because he can turn the simplest of plays into a highlight reel one because of his lack of range.

baseball-reference has become a total mess. It's full of unexplained errors. Its numbers can't be trusted. I had stuck with it because I liked its layout.

The best part is that while most players seem to have an explanation for this kind of success (changing approach or whatever) that a lot of fans buy into because they want to believe that this kind of success is sustainable, Goins has literally explained it with "I've been lucky".

Academically known as "The Jeter Effect."

I expect they'll add everyone from the 40-man who's relatively close to the majors and having a good season. So Smith, Alford, Hernandez, Borucki. Probably no Gurriel, Urena, or Ramirez at this point.

I would love to see a September promotion for Jansen, but they would have to make room on the 40-man and when they get healthy they'll have five catchers on the roster already.

I would like to see Carlos Ramirez and Maybe Mayza get called up.

The only concern there is who you get rid of to make room on the 40-man. They're at 40 now and they may need to make room for any of Ceciliani, Pompey, Travis, or Tulo, depending who makes it back this year.

There's likely a way to make room for at least one of them.

Oh probably... Dermody, Valdez, Tepesch, maybe one of the catchers if the rest all get healthy... but they're not as loaded with DFA-worthy guys as they have been in past years.

Updated top 10 ranking at FG. Grades haven't been updated/reevaluated.

Toronto Blue Jays (Preseason List)

1. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 3B
2. Anthony Alford, OF
3. Bo Bichette, 2B
4. Teoscar Hernandez, OF
5. Logan Warmoth, SS
6. Sean Reid-Foley, RHP
7. Nate Pearson, RHP
8. Justin Maese, RHP
9. Lourdes Gurriel, UTIL
10. Rowdy Tellez, 1B

Guerrero is one of the best prospects in baseball. Alford was breaking out and made his big-league debut before he broke his hamate. He has had significant injuries each of the last two years (concussion, knee injury, broken hamate), though no recurring ailments. Bichette, of whom I was skeptical as an amateur, moves up because of his freakish feel to hit, which he has carried to the Florida State League. There’s a sizeable gap after him, where things get very crowded. About six players after the top 10 all have arguments for inclusion. Among them is SS Richard Urena, who has started to hit after a bad first few months. C/1B Max Pentecost is hitting in High-A but is already 24 years old.

Longenhagen really doesnt like Bichette. Had him 10th pre-season and even after one of the best years in the minors he puts him 3rd after Alford. 2nd and 3rd doesnt seems like a huge oversight but Bichette is our undisputed 2nd best prospect. I see Vladdy as 1A and Bichette as 1B.

Mine is;

1. Vlad
2. Bichette
3. Alford
4. Warmoth
5. Pearson

HM: Jansen and Reid-Foley

If Alford doesnt stay healthy/move forward next year i have Warmoth potentially ready to take that 3rd spot.

For whatever reason i think Gurriel will be a below average defender as a super utility guy for us... potentially a solid 2-3 WAR player so he should be in my HM as well.
