No problem.

As the team is currently constructed i agree there is no room for him as RF. But if we didnt have Morales i would be interested in him as DH type on a 1 year deal. Since Morales isnt going anywhere then yeah i think it is best we let him go.

If the Jays got rid of Morales I would like Pearce to take his spot.

Cant go wrong either way... I personally prefer Pearce as the first bat off the bench. Jays really need to improve their bench if they want to trot Tulo, Travis and Martin out as starters next season.

Pearce as a DH/1B and 2B/LF to a lesser extent would be helpful. Pearce isnt a bench player but our bench needs to be that good to weather potential injuries next season. Having a bat like Pearce off the bench wouldnt be a luxury rather a necessity now.

I was big on Beckham before he had his hot start with the O's after seeing what he went for. I thought Beckham was the perfect reserve middle infielder for us. Can come off the bench and good enough to fill in for Tulo or Travis at SS or 3B. Maybe trade for Lowrie as he should come cheap and is a switch hitter.

My bench would look something like;

C: Jansen or McGuire (sign a Conger type to a minor league deal)
1B/2B/LF: Pearce
2B/SS/3B: Lowrie
OF: Aoki or Pompey/Alford (potentially a weak side of a platoon)

The idea there, presumably, is to have bench guys who are almost more like utility players where they don't just play a couple times a week to give guys a rest now and then, but rather they play three or four out of every five games by rotating through multiple positions and keeping everybody fresh.

It's Borucki's day tomorrow in NH. And he's already on the 40 man. Would be agressive, but I'm half expecting him to be a September callup maybe anyway so who knows

I wouldn't mind it but I don't think it would happen. Rowley pitched yesterday so he's out. What are the other other options?

I would like it if it was SRF but probably no hope of that happening. An inconsistent season and not on 40 man roster either.

Nick Tepesch starts tomorrow with Buffalo. It will likely be him.

Do we have a 40 man spot open for him? Otherwise not sure they'll want to DFA someone just for the 1 start. I think they'd go pen day before they'd do that.

So Jim Callis had the bold prediction before the year started that Vlad Jr. may be the #1 prospect in a years time. He's pretty close to nailing it, so he decided to lay another one on everyone, prediction Vlad Sr, and Jr. will be the first father son pair both in the Hall of Fame

I mentioned Borucki the other day half jokingly, but now it actually makes sense. He's having a great season, he's on the 40-man... and now apparently it even lines up well with his rotation spot. I don't see a lot of downside in giving him a one-off start.

That one's a LITTLE premature.

But he's going to be a superstar.

It looks like it but let's pump the brakes. No definite with prospects. But I'm more excited for him than any prospect ever.

Meh. I think he's going to be a superstar, but it's not like it's anywhere remotely close to a given. Based on historical precedents, I don't think that's an outlandish thing to say. If you can't project Guerrero to be that good then you can't project it of anyone.

I was hoping for Borucki but didn't think it was likely. Tulo to the 60 day DL to open up the 40 man spot I assume(which I didn't think of earlier)

Holy ****! An ump actually got suspended for something(publicly). I mean they can be as bad at their job on the field, bait players and managers into doing ****, being worse people than the players they're tossing from the game, but if you say anything to USA Today, then be prepared for the wrath of the MLB. The Ump Union is opposed, no ****, they have MLB by the balls so this probably gets reduced to nothing at all. MLB probably will end up paying Joe West damages by the time it's settled TBH

Keeping on the same train of thought. At least Bautista isn't the biggest complainer

With the age and health concerns of many guys on our roster we really should be investing a bit of money into the bench. I don't know how good Jansen or McGuire will be in their first year in the majors but Martin could be a solid mentor. The argument could be made that they could use more reps and at bats in the minors though. It'll be interesting to see what path Atkins goes with in terms of their development.

As a side note i fully expect the Jays to sign Jay Bruce this offseason. Hopefully its not a long term big money deal. I think the Morales contract is what i'd expect for Bruce.

1 down 2 to go!

2 down!

Osuna saves, Jays win!

Osuna needed it, and, he got it done!

Jansen's AAA debut has been very good. 5 for 12, 2 BB 2 2b and only one 1 KO.

It's been a very 2014-Pompey type rise for him this year. He had the same kind of sleeper status early in his career, got derailed by injuries along the way, then came in strong and flew through the system. It's baffling that Jansen continues to get no recognition as an excellent prospect.

Part of me really wants to see him as Martin's backup next year, but they'll probably find some cheap filler and give Jansen at least half a season in Buffalo.

Damn, I hope he was ok that 1 time he got knocked out :sarcasm:

Don't know why but I do that more than I should. Typically I catch it before I post it though.

I was reading where he started wearing glasses instead of contacts and he has said that has helped a lot.
