In 20 ABs Tim Beckham has already jumped into 5th in fWAR for the Os batters.

Baltimore did very well with Beckham. When the trade happened i wanted Beckham at that price. Basically a 2 WAR SS at 27 with 3 years of control. Would have been great insurance for Tulo and Travis.

The return on the Alonso trade seems curiously low. I know that August trades are always cheaper because of the waiver component, but Boog Powell is a fringey prospect on merit, before you even get to the fact the he's apparently a headcase with off-field issues.

Ever since Billy gave up his MO in Moneyball, he's just been a terrible GM who repeatedly gets destroyed in trades.

The great Alex Pathetictopoulos team strikes again

Shapiro needs to clean up the mess left by that reputation guy who only cared about how he looked in the mirror

Agreed. Can't remember the last beane trade that you could say he won or even did well on

Second start in a row where he pitched a lot of strikes.

Yup. As you said maybe using his fastball more which might explain the hit columm.

What will they do next season? All though he has been inconsistent, his ERA is kind of inflated by the horrendous start he had. Do they move him to triple AA?

He had a bad result today, however, he's been great in the past.

Hopefully, he'll recover his touch, and be great again real soon.

Where's the 4 seamer today? He's basically stopped throwing change ups this year and threw almost all cutters and sliders, which are almost the same pitch for him right now with very little velocity variation (86-91mph).

Should pounce on this opportunity to trade prospects for Votto. Bring the local boy home.

This team does not need Votto and his selfish style of play. We need hitz, not players who elect to pad their own stats rather than be an actual team player and drive in runs. RBI's, Nem. They are the key to winning. Have you not learned anything after watching all of these Blue Jays hitters swing for the fences rather than bunt the runners over? I expect more from you.

Hard pass for me

That contract is ugly and I think our team will be rebuilding soon

I was being sarcastic.

He's on track for 100 RBI.

and it took all these years to beat the selfish walk-taking out of Votto so that he'd start swinging the bat like a run-producer like Dusty Baker wanted. We can't have him going back to being worried about his precious OBP like some kind of nerd when he could be hitting dingers and driving in runs like a real man.
