He very likely could thrive offensively in the Leafs top 6. The issue with a player like Lafreniere is you still need to give up a lot to get him and he's not a sure bet. I think you can spend less assets to acquire a player who will put up the same production in the same spot, like Bunting. I'd imagine the acquisition cost is similar to Dach if not more.

I'd like to see them run Liljegren 2RD and Timmins 3RD for a full season. They both have performed well when they get opportunity. Hopefully losing the pressure of winning 1 round will free up the coaching staff to play them next season.
That's fair if that would be the case even though production wise I probably sold him short since he can probably be like a Nylander offensively.

If that was the case I would trade a lot to get him but I just don't see it. The fact that his P/GP is 1/3 in the playoffs doesn't help either.

If I were after buy low young players I'd be looking at swapping Robertson for McMichael or Mavrik Bourque or Nolan Foote.

There was talk that Hendrix Lapierre has fallen out of favor there.

He intrigues me less than McMichael and Bourque because his junior production was never good. His production was slightly better than Foote who I suggested but the intrigue with Foote is size more than production.

Interesting stat for Lafrenire

Shooting talent above average all situations

Filter set to 1000 minutes played

He ranks #10 overall and only impact names in the top 15

I'm not even a fan of his game but this stood out to me that maybe has him currently a bit underrated

He's one that I'd have no problem buying low on, if NYR is looking to move on

Kind of hoping for the Devils against the Canes in the Metro. They put on a good show.
In the Pacific I don't really care. Both teams have some appeal but not enough to get behind them. Stars/Kraken winner would be nice to see in the cup final.

Wrong thread

Bringing back Brown would be great, also adding a TOP4 RHD (Connor Murphy -type) would be of great assistance - then we could pair Brodie with Timmins and he'd have more freedom to do his thing, plus Rielly would have a defensive D by his side.

I wonder, if they'd really be willing to move on from Nylander (regardless of this seasons outcome) - is Vancouver a logical destination?

Garland @ 50% + their 1st '23 (NOTE: only if they don't pick in the TOP3, otherwise the value would jump through the roof), or something along those lines.

Robertson should have a huge opportunity to cement his place in the TOP9 next fall.

Re-sign O'Reilly, please and thank you.

Why are we talking off season moves when we are still in the playoffs? Gio might turn back the clock for a month and win the Conn Smythe. Willie might just light it up for the next 12 Wins.

Based on what? He’s significantly slower, dumber, weaker on the puck, less agile, worse shooter than Nylander. What’s his overwhelming top 5% in the NHL skill that he’s going to score 40 goals with?

I wonder if the Rangers would be open to Robertson + for Lafreniere. Definitely two guys who need a change of scenery.

Would have to think it would have to be a large plus.
Robertson wouldn't have much value at all.

Damn, that offend you that much? You a close personal friend of Nylander or something? Judging by your little scouting report I think you've made it clear you either don't know much or have ever watched him play. 5v5 production is identical at age 20 with 1 minute less TOI. Idk why saying he could produce like Nylander in the right situation offended you so much when the guy is a 1st overall pick and with loads of potential playing 3rd line minutes and on the 2nd PP unit.

What of skating, shooting, puck possession, and playmaking is he even close to Nylander at? Laf hitting his ceiling is a poor man’s Tavares at wing. He’s too slow to work with any of our top 6 options and I really don’t see what he brings to the table right now that would get him on the 1st PP. He’d be the same 3rd line 2nd PP winger here that he is with the Rags.

I have been thinking about this for awhile. I don't think Vancouver ever does what you proposed here but I could see Garland @100% + 11OA for Nylander. It might have to be Garland (full salary)+Myers+11OA for Murray+Nylander or Garland+11 OA for Nylander+28OA.

Getting in a position to draft one of Danielson or Reinbacher would be awesome.

Leaving the draft with Danielson+Stramel and then re-signing Matthews would be awesome.

I will take back him back next year as the 6th/7t and limit his minutes. I think if he is well rested you will still get some good performances out of him.

Rangers will expect a similar package as the Habs paid for Dach (No. 13 and No. 66 picks).

Murray?..

Vancouver needs more money out than in bottom line

And they have enough wingers..

They really don’t have that many top end wingers. Especially when it looks like they’ll deal Boeser this off season and Garland is in the proposed trade and Pearson likely isn’t coming back.

Thats where they are at.. lot of ifs i agree..

They are in dire need of a defen eman and a 3C

Not nylander a year out from needing a raise.. with pettersson needing his next year too

Why does Robertson need a change of scenery? I don't think a change would help his injury luck

*for the record I like the idea of buying low on Laf .. then again he seems to fit the bill of this team's list of underachieving playoff players

I can see them being interested in bringing in Nylander for Pettersson’s wing to help convince Pettersson to stay. They were also reportedly looking to dump Garland so this would be a win-win. They don’t need to hold on to 11OA for a 3C.
