Okay, then I'd say 6 million on 2 players isn't bad at all as long as those players contribute 3mm in value each.

Kerfoot did actually have a good playoffs one year, with Galchenyuk and Nylander. Unfortunately, Galchenyuk made one huge game changing mistake. Actually, that year, probably about 2 mistakes cost them the series. That and a non-existent 1st. line.

Kerfoot also has a pretty famous drop pass.

Sorry, I missed something, but a bottom 6 with with a $6mm cap hit is excellent. That's $1mm each.
I was talking about 6 mil between 2 players. That would be excellent though even though I do believe our bottom 6 now pretty much only costs around 1-1.5 mil each for all our players except Kerfoot.

How's everyone feeling about Lafferty?

I would have rather kept Engvall so far, tbh. His speed hasn't been as noticeable as it was when we played against him, and he doesn't have much finish so far.

Hasn't entirely been my idea of an upgrade thus far unfortunately. Time is on the team's side though with Lafferty locked in for next season at a (much?) lower rate in comparison to Engvall.

It's tough to imagine we added Laff when Hathaway and Bertuzzi were out there. Both would have fit like a glove. Not really sure what Laff brings.

Need some creative individual to create "The Blameables" poster.

Sandin
Holl
Engvall
Kerfoot
?Rielly?
...

They all deserve their criticism imo. We're trying to win a Cup here.

The advantage with Lafferty might just be that he's already under contract for next season. No guarantee that either of Hathaway or Bertuzzi re-up here if acquired instead of Lafferty. Aside from that, Bertuzzi would easily have been the best add from that lot.

He shouldn't be a center. He hasn't been great overall but he is promising as a winger.
He's definitely better as a winger. IMO you know what you're getting from him more consistently though and you know he'll play hard and gritty whereas Engvall ranged from non-existent to sniper with minimal physicality and the inconsistency was maddening.

I’m not a fan of Engvall but he does seem to play a tougher game when surrounded by tougher players. To me that means he’s ok to play hard but is scared of getting into a fight….when others are with him there’s less of a chance. Im cool with getting rid of him, but another part of me would liked to have seen him with players like Acciari/OReilly

Very average and invisible a lot. He's versatile but that's about it. I think his high shooting percentage caught up to him as soon as he switched teams and received a lot less offensive opportunities.

With that said, I think he's a better fit moving forward than Engvall. He's signed for another year and a very good cap hit. He just needs to find another gear.

Lafferty is your typical bottom 6 who got speed, plays physical and can chip in a goal here and there.
Not the greatest in defence but not a liability either.
He does seem to be better when it playing for the Hawks but just think he is still identifying and figuring out his role on the team.

341 forwards have played 100+ minutes the last month.

Laferty ranked as having the 16th lowest Ozone start% (24.24%) in the league over his time with the Leafs so far over that stretch.

Thats gonna make an impact on your stats for sure even though he was only a 38.46% guy on the Hawks (who found themselves in the Dzone more often than not)

The lowest in the league (by far) since the deadline???

ZAR....with an insane 7.41% oZone start%. Makes his 42% goal differential look not half bad (especially with the leaky goaltending over that stretch)

He's been shit. Really was expecting more. Him and ZAR are really forgettable players. It's scary that some of our prospects can't take the next step and replace one of these cans

Which ones? McMann, Robertson, and SDA are hurt. We traded Anderson. It is pretty much Abruzzese and Steeves and TBH I would rather have them getting prime minutes in the AHL than taking the role ZAR is playing in right now... and besides, Knies should be earmarked to replace him anyways.

Lafferty will be given more opportunities. He was overhyped but he is also miscast as an offensive guy. If we are fully healthy, he needs to play as either a high-speed grinder with ROR and likely Kerfoot (but could possibly be Knies or Bunting too) or he needs to be on a shutdown line with Kampf and Acciari and effectively is a smaller but more gritty Engvall. He is not a center, and the only "center" responsibilities he should maybe have is being able to get back and cover for a slower center like ROR and hopefully does as well as Kerfoot does when he has to do it.
