You c.consider it. But if Sammy looks to be the real deal he's going to be MUCH cheaper over the next 5+ seasons

Samsonov seems like he's the real deal enough, at least according to the Leafs moneyball parameters of what a goalie should be. I do sometimes think Samsonov's earlier career reputation as a flake and an unreliable goalie sometimes enters into the conversation even though he's been very reliable in Toronto.

Timo Meier doesn't seem to be doing that well offensively in New Jersey. Maybe shooting out the lights on a bottom feeder was a more comfortable situation than ramping up to play for a contender...

With Winnipeg being a tire fire will Hellebuyck resign with them .
If he is available do you take a run at him next summer ?
If so what is the price to trade for him ?

Buyout or trade Murray
Trade Sammy

Woll will be the backup

Big money on goalies doesn’t work out more than it does. It’s a massive gamble for the contract he’ll get

How exactly? He hits people. That is it. He has been awful outside of that, and he barely even plays (for good reason).

At this point he has been closer go a waste of a 3rd round pick than someone the Leafs should be wanting to bring back.

Lyubushkin was bad too but at least he played big minutes once in a while.

He has been physical, stable, good defensively and a presence we lacked and will notice more in the playoffs. He’s not the best defensive D man in the league but he is exactly the type of player the Leafs have lacked. If he can remain the 6/7 D man going forward and put into situations where he will thrive, he will be a big asset IMO. You will almost always see a Dman like him on the bottom pairing for the cup winner. There obviously needs to be a succession plan in place soon due to his age, and he’s not the long term solution but for 2-3 years he can be an asset

The bold is literally the only thing he has been here thus far.

He has the highest xGA/60 of anyone on our current defense except Gustafsson, and the worst underlying numbers by far, and that is despite barely playing.

Even by the eye-test, the only time he has looked good is when he has hit someone. The rest of the time, he looks shaky.

It is a new team for him, and it isn't like the team has been playing well.

Is there anyone they traded for we can say, "He's made such a huge difference!"

McCabe has been okay, but that hasn't made the team any better. Argument can be made the team is worse.

ROR and Acciari before they got hurt were fairly impactful.

McCabe has been up and down but at least he has had some ups. Even Lafferty has had some good games even though he has mostly struggled as well.

Schenn hasn't shown anything that suggests he should be in our playoff lineup unless we desperately need a physical defenseman... and even then he should barely be used.

The team is also playing quite well...

O'Rielly got hurt ... we should have expected that.

Team has been up and down, and personally I am surprised when they win. Team looks a mess.

You're surprised when they win ? LOL what a joke they have the 4th best winning percentage in the league

Honestly I think it's because he's not playing enough. You just came up a year and a half playing a lot of minutes and being pretty decent

What is their record the past 20 games?

Where do they rank since the deadline?
Last 20 games 12-6-2 for a .650 winning percentage 9th in the league. Not bad considering they basically have had their spot locked up for months.

Thanks.

So not bad, not as good as their standings, but they were always going to play Tampa at home or away.

They've been better, obviously!!!

Schenn not standing out in anyway is generally a positive sign that he burned up 10-12 minutes of clock though. If he could be a little more efficient moving the puck around like a Bogosian in 2021 that's basically a win.

Acciari seems to have lost some of his early impact as time has gone on, so hopefully he can get healthier and be recharged when the playoffs start.

Lafferty seems like a non upgrade on Mikheyev and even Engvall. He's got his speed but there's a downgrade in puck ragging ability and the sandpaper isn't enough of an upgrade for the trade off the make sense right now. If he can score a clutch goal here and there in the playoffs all will be forgiven but I find him underwhelming.

I like McCabe. He's not as imposing as Muzzin and not as smart and efficient as Brodie but a good in between defensively oriented guy.

Really excited to get ROR back soon.

Hopefully he gets a chance next season with the hawks. Hes definitely not much to worry about losing out on but think he can still potentially be a 4th liner

I don't expect it to happen this way for Joey Anderson necessarily, but the way Anderson popped in the AHL this year kind of reminded me of Trevor Moore in the AHL 4-5 years ago in 2018-19 when he looked like a tweener but then found regular employment on the rebuilding Kings. Moore really blossomed last year but has since settled down.

I have loved the way he plays
