Waddell saying he’s going to explore the trade market before July 1st.

I wonder if there could be anything involving Nylander or Marner there.
I've been saying Marner to Carolina for Svechnikov for awhile.

To Toronto-
Svechnikov
Pesce
Jarvis

To Carolina-
Marner
Robertson
Liljegren
28th overall pick

I dont think we are good trade partners for the Canes tbh, they want size similar to us and this kind of gets rid of that. I know waddel just announced he wants to trade but this feels like a step back.

I see no way Carolina does that. I'd almost guarantee they value Svechnikov>Marner. Svech was Dundon's first draft pick and they have him signed to a decent deal for 6 more seasons (probably an overpay), Marner would require another overpay in 2 seasons.

The thing is, hockey is a team sport and from my observation, it usually the team with the most heart, not the most talent that wins. Thats why depth is a topic of discussion come playoff time.

Crosby and Toews are wonderful captains and leaders. I have seen zero leadership out of matthews, marner, and nylander. They are closer to Kessel than Toews and Crosby imo. Look at the work ethic of hyman compared to them, he isnt the most talented but he tries each shift and cares. I cant see toronto ever winning with this core because they just dont have the right work ethic regardless if skill sadly.

Toronto tried to get them some mentorship with Marleau but that didnt last. Dubas gave the kids the keys to the castle and then was surprised when they through a house party instead of studying.
you know this guy by all accounts is first on last off ice and always in the gym right?

I honestly think the only reason you give it second thought is because of the contract Svechnikov is on.

Carolina will never do thus. Svechnikov has more value than Marner. Then somehow Carolina adds?? Not happening and not how they function

In what world does Svechnikov have more value then Marner? Yes, Svechnikov is a good player, but who's career high is 69 points. Marner is near a 100 point player who plays in every situation.

There is offseason LTIR to throw Muzzin in if it comes to that. The issue is mostly being able to accrue cap space in season. If we're over the cap and using LTIR, we can't accrue cap space and it becomes very hard to do anything. This is why trading Muzzins contract should definitely be something the Leafs try to do.

Murray is 100% the priority to figure out, or at the very least goaltending as a whole. Woll is not being thrown on waivers.
Talk Jake into retiring hire him as a part time defensive coach for 3 mil. *3 yrs
Working with our young players .
I think the Leafs can work something out.
Trade Murray retain a mil for future considerations
or
Buyout Murray

Worth noting, the Leafs actually have a bit of cap room to play around with, even more so if they dump most of Murrays contract. Could potentially open up some interesting trading partners looking to shed salary like Boston

Wonder what it would take to get Charlie Coyle?

"I heard that Toronto's exit interviews we're pretty tough," said Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast. "I heard that Toronto players were pretty blunt."

"What this player told me is that they think you should keep an eye on what maybe unfolds over the next few weeks," revealed Friedman. "Because he thinks some of the players were really blunt about why it didn't work."

If Keefe comes back then obviously he's not the problem that was being talked about by the players.

What would everyone's guess be?

Trent Fredrick rfa 1.8 * 2 yrs
for
2nd rd pk

Boston is very tight against the cap
45 pt winger loves to hit and stand up for team mates

Imagine Treliving gets ROR to sign.

If Canes agree, it only means Svec is damaged goods and they give up on him

To Toronto-
Konecny
Laughton

To Philadelphia-
Nylander
Robertson

To Toronto-
Andersson
Lindholm
1st Round Pick

To Calgary-
Marner
Timmons
28th overall pick

Resign Accari 2yrs x 1.3mil aav
Resign Schenn 2yrs x 850k aav
Sign Bertuzzi 4yrs x 4mil
Sign Wood 3yrs x 3 mil

Knies-Matthews-Konecny
Tavares-Lindholm-Bertuzzi
Wood-Laughton-Jarnkrok
Mcmann-Holmberg-Accari

Rielly-Andersson
McCabe-Liljegren
Brodie-Schenn
Giordano

For FAs, I’d like Acciari, Barbashev, Schenn, and Haula for the 3C spot. If you can ship out Murray and/or Muzzin, I’d sniff around Orlov.

Call Winnipeg about a deal for Hellebuyk

I can see Mayfield being a target.

Trade Brodie.
Friedman was on Sportsnet and confirmed that from what he's heard...Treliving isn't gonna touch the core 4 and will most likely make changes on defense.

I think we go hard after Mayfield and Giordanio/Brodie gone somehow

What are the chances Zadorov is a target for Treveling?
Makes sense.. but i am leary of him.. less minutes the better for him but his salary is that mid range you want more.. he also needs a very effective system to show well.. he is prone to puck blunders so he needs support around him for recovery

Our forwards arent really helpful.. he could turn into dave ellett
