The proposal unquestionably makes even less sense for us. Couldn't say that I'd understand enough of the rationale from either side to even consider this.If you’re the Islanders, you take that and run. We think Marner is overpaid at 10.9 million, Barzal at 9.1 million is even worse.
Aside from year 1, Barzal hasn't cracked more than 62 points in a season, hasn’t even hit the 20 goal mark in the past 5 seasons and isn’t nearly as good as Marner on the defensive end all while missing quite a bit of games due to injuries the last few seasons.
I get Barzal has speed and he’s a center but Marner is in an entire tier above Barzal.
