Could the Flyers have interest in Murray and our 1st round pick for something? Laughton maybe? I feel as they are rebuilding they will try to emulate the Hawks and Coyotes model, and the Leafs could use a player like Laughton I think.

I'd expect a little more done to the roster overall than just the bare minimum.
I wouldn't mind that. I just try to keep these exercises within the bounds of the easy to predict linear moves, blank canvas has too many options lol.

I’d hope more for Konency tbh… maybe if we are lucky

Schenn & Acciari 1.75 x 2
Holmberg 950
Abruzzese 850
Samsonov 3.5 x 2
Murray bought out

xxx- Matthews- Nylander
Knies-Tavares- Marner
Abruzzese-Acciari-Jarncrok
McMann-Holmberg-Lafferty
Steeves

Rielly-Schenn
McCabe-Liljegren
Brodie-Timmins
Gio

McMann and Steeves are place holders, could go with UFA vets at comparable price points.

I like the look of that 3rd line, debated on Robertson vs Nick A, went with Nick because he's the smarter player, better transition player, better distributor. The other 2 are both smart, solid guys that can put the puck in the net.

8.37m in cap space to pick whoever we want for LW1, or split between 2 and go a little less young, oorrrr make a play for a C with 2-3 years, shift JT to LW.
Don't we already know the outcome for this team?

Depends on
A- who 1 and 4 LW are out of training camp
B- what we get out of 2 of Knies/NicA/NickRob
C- if we make that centre move

factor A- say LW1 is Bertuzzi/Barbashev, LW4 is Wood/Girgensons
factor B- say 2 of them emerge as 35+ point guys, steady in their roles

What are we in the market for?
3c is a hole there as well - acciari should be a winger who takes faceoffs and forechecks - i like holmberg and acciari as a 4th line though

I really dont think bertuzzi is anything special.. plays too cute, doesnt play consistently like a prick anymore and will be expensive but i dont like the term likely

Barbashev meh past his value vs contract stage.. knies is the only one i like moving forward.. i am so tired of malgins abbruzzees and robertsons .. if you are going to be small you better work your ass skin off like a kiviranta (hey there is a name).

Robertson always works his ass off. If he stays healthy and beefs up a bit he’s the perfect 3rd line LW scorer.

And what are you going to offer Calgary for him?
I have no idea what they want first name that i throw out there is if they like nivk robertsons game as a change of scenery.. but they have pelletier and maybe phillips already as little guys

Draft picks on the table.. personally i have niemela on the table as i really really like villeneuve.. but i like them both

Or are they interested in a shakeup and is marner intriguing to them

I disagree but wont cheer against him..

Who is this person

He want to let Sammy go

Have woll as the stater
Murray as the backup

He doesn't want to sign Schenn even though it was the first time in a long time that MO could feel free to do his Thang. The best I have seen him play in along time.

Lol I saw he was blaming Schenn for Matthews’ inability to score in the playoffs.

Sounds like a tool to me.

I wouldnt go so far as "wanting" it- but if someone reeaaaally believed in Woll the ballsy play would be to go after a Vanecek/Georgiev package for Sammy and sign a cheap insurance 3G

I'll be honest... It might not be a bad idea. I like Samsonov but it'll depend on his contract demands and if the Leafs can shed Murray.

One thing is for sure, there's absolutely no way Woll isn't on the Leafs next year. So they'll have to find a way to make it work one way or another. Selling high on an average starter like Samsonov could decent depending on the return.

I don't disagree with that idea.

Just a rando fan….. for a while I thought it was an organization…. But it’s a fan fiction website

Thinking about McLeod out in Edmonton, a young centreman who's speedy, good defensively, and has some upside and could be a Tavares successor as our 2C. If the Leafs are looking to get younger and faster he should be a target. I wonder if we could parlay Brodie and maybe a pick for his rights, Edmonton is always looking for defensemen and they seemed to have really soured on Ceci.

Editor in Leafs is probably a site/twitter account you want to avoid unless you follow internet analytics religiously. They cried when we brought in Schenn and I think they're still upset he was one of our better players for one of their analytics they use so much xGF or whatever. Why would you want to bring back Schenn who led our team in that stat when you could bring back Holl who was near the bottom. Eventually some of these people online will realize that teams have analytics that people online don't have or are smart enough to come up with maybe and that's why every few years they find 1 thing and live and die by that analytic. Was Corsi at one point and now it seems to be xGF. There's a reason why teams hired guys who created their own websites with their own analytics and then got them shutdown after hiring them. Wouldn't be a point to hire an analytics department if you could just find the numbers online or pay $2 or whatever a month for a patreon or whatever they use.

Murray or Kallgren as backup to Woll! While he suggests the Leafs should go "cheap in net", I can't imagine Samsonov's new AAV being greater than Murray's current number.

Get both brothers tbh. I liked them their draft years for their speed and skill but they've learned to play a bottom 6 role very well who could possibly play higher up if needed. Michael especially imo. He's become the complete package. Physical, speed, skill and is very good on the faceoff dot. Put them both on the 3rd line with Jarnkrok to try out and see if the speed and skillsets work out well together. Then sign Acciari for the 4th line C spot and the LW spot open for McMann who hopefully can make it work at the NHL with an extended look or maybe Robertson at 1st. I think their RFAs right? So wouldn't we have to trade for their rights? Maybe Abruzzesse gets you Michael and would Robertson be fair for Ryan in Edmonton? We keep that physicality in the bottom 6 but added a lot of speed and make our PK more dangerous offensively as well. Would be something to think about though imo since both brothers are very useful players.

Samsonov would cost at most a number around 3ish mil, unless they opt to go long term.
I anticipate the number to fall somewhere in that neighbourhood as well (with ~3.5M as a max). Therefore, a Woll-Murray tandem wouldn't produce any cap savings over a Samsonov-Woll combination. Woll-Kallgren would be a cheap but highly questionable tandem for a contender IMO.

Some cheap targets to look at.

Lucas Carlsson would be at the top of my list. If Treliving is hired, Phillips could be someone he gives a shot to. Daccord would great as a 3rd stringer but seems likely he gets a shot somewhere.

Easy choice to buy out Murray if we can’t Robidas island him or make him disappear.

670k this year and 2M next year. Thats a real easy buy out to eat.

Alternatively, stashing him on the Marlies isn’t the worst option either.

If they put Murray with the Marlies, the cap savings would actually cover Wolls contract +actually free up a couple hundred thousand to spend elsewhere. It's really not the worst idea.

Issue is if the team would rather free up the whole 4.7 via a trade - as it could be spent on a top 9 forward or another top 4 D

2M of dead cap space is certainly not easy for a team looking to remain in contention.

Every option should be exhausted before they buy him out. Hell even waiving him and putting him on the Marlies would be better in the short-term. Mirtle seemed to think there is a market for him.

Carrcone, who was already a Marlie, would be right up there as well. Tore the A up this year and is looks pretty good at the WC for Canada right now.

Parker Wotherspoon (who should've been taken in the Engvall deal) is also a G6 to go for as well.

5’7 140 pounds.

Phillips has the body of someone in elementary school. Not what we need, unless it’s for some scoring on the Marlies.
