Josh Klouke at the Athletic had a good round up article today about the leafs free agents.
Said the team talked with Schenn after the tdl about an extension for a 2 year deal at around 850k, says the number that likely gets him signed will be closer to 2 mil but seems he'll sign if Leafs make the offer.
Leafs talked with Kampf mid season about an extension. There's mutual interest but suspects he gets priced out
The team hadn't talked with Kerfoot agent about any sort of extension
Thinks ROR will end up with 5.5mil per regardless of which team gets him.
If course all of this may change depending on whose GM.

They speculated as well that Treliving has tried to acquire Schenn multiple times in the past so IFFFF it did ultimately end up being him, it could be simple.
I'm hoping Schenn would go for something like 2 years 1.5-1.75M

If the term was just 2 years I'd be fine with Schenn at 2 mil and would consider anything under that a win for the team.

Acciari is more or less in the same boat as Schenn. Both sides are (were?) interested in re-signing Acciari.
No Bunting extension talks during the season. He doesn't think he will be back.

Yeah definitely did seem as long as if the team is going to be close to what Acciari wants. Money-wise he will stay.
I hope it works out
Acciari, O’Reilly and Schenn would be good targets to re-sign.
Don’t really care too much about Bunting or Kampf.

Nick Bjugstad is another solid option for the fourth line center role. Shelter his minutes so he can stay healthy and he’ll contribute. Shouldn’t cost more than a mill either.
And plays like fred gauthier for most of the time except when he is trying his dangles

8.37m in cap space to pick whoever we want for LW1, or split between 2 and go a little less young, oorrrr make a play for a C with 2-3 years, shift JT to LW.

Could the Flyers have interest in Murray and our 1st round pick for something? Laughton maybe? I feel as they are rebuilding they will try to emulate the Hawks and Coyotes model, and the Leafs could use a player like Laughton I think.
I'd expect a little more done to the roster overall than just the bare minimum.
Sadly that team will just be back to paying the paper at the trade deadline to bring in we keep bringing in

C- if we make that centre move
factor A- say LW1 is Bertuzzi/Barbashev, LW4 is Wood/Girgensons
factor B- say 2 of them emerge as 35+ point guys, steady in their roles
