I am a Kings fan and I would like to answer your question from LA point of view without desire to upset anybody.

I think, your proposal has no considerations for Kings needs and salary cap implications of the team.

LA biggest problems are defense, goaltending and not enough physicality.

Also, they need money to sign their own free agents (Gavrikov, Vilardi and Kupari) and do not have money on luxury of Toronto big four forwards.

Marner is not needed at all, because LA has talented and much less expensive players in Kempe, Fialla and Vilardi.

I believe Kings should spend their assets on the position of needs, not on luxury.

No chance New Jersey doesn’t at least qualify Meier and then trade him if they wanted to get rid of him.

Also find it really hard to believe Tavares would waive his NMC for Columbus.

I feel like every team would be interested in acquiring a player like Marner. It’s not only the offensive side of his game but his defensive side as well which makes him one of if not the best overall winger in the game.

I highly doubt they give him his QO. $10 mil? I can see them agreeing to a contract though... I put Meier in, as he'd come up in discussions... there are other options out there.. Killorn for example... which would leave us with plenty of cap room to upgrade elsewhere.

About Tavares, perhaps you are correct.

When it comes to Tavares and his NMC, I can see us having better luck with a team like San Jose which he held multiple interviews with when he was a free agent and they have a ton of cap space. The return wouldn’t be anything crazy though.

There are some legitimate questions brought up about Matthews willingness to sign before finding out who the new GM is, and gaining a comfort level there.

Do you in general like the majority of the roster around you?

I was paraphrasing Chris Johnston.... so his words, not mine... though he has a point.

You bring up the other side, but there is more to that.

What is his health? His wrists.... How is he going to meet playoff expectations in the future?

Say Dubas goes to Ottawa and wants Mitch. What are you asking for? Given that Ottawa is a budget team, the caps hits will have to be pretty similar:

I'm just assuming based off end of season availability he wants to be a Leaf.

I want to know on July 1st we're announcing an extension because on July 1st, there is a transfer of power.

Matthews 1 year deal

2023 1st rounder + top 3 prospect from the team + Under 25 RHD or LW with top 2D 1LW potential

SJS: 2023 1st (4th OA) + Eklund + Shair Mahk
CBJ: 2023 1st (3OA) + Mateychuk (2022 12OA) + Silinger
DET: 2023 1st (9OA) + Cossa + Raymond

Agreed. Marner I think would bring back a better return but the easiest/safest move would be to move Nylander along with another player like Brodie.

Matthews centers your first line, Marner plays the right wing on the second line and Tavares plays the left wing on the third line. You build around that.
 
I think it will be Willy moved. Don’t agree with it, but he’s the easiest to move.

Yall realize no GM is gonna come in and make changes. Hes gonna take a couple years to evaluate and waste everythig
