That's the thing. Not much of a trade market out there for Tavares while it'll be huge for someone like Marner. You also know once Tavares contract is up he's not getting anything close to that while the other will probably get more.

I think there would be a very few amount of teams JT would actually waive for if he was approached about it. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible for him to move. Definitely wouldn’t be an easy conversation to have with him that’s for sure…
 
I would do the Tavares-Doughty deal in a heartbeat. Even with the extra couple years.

And then Marner and the BOS 1st for McTavish and Drysdale.

Marner/Zegras/Fantilli would be pretty fun to watch too.

I don't think it's completely out of the question. They got their #1C in Beniers and giving him a playmaker like Marner is only gonna help him. Meanwhile for us we get a possible #2C behind Matthews especially after Tavares contract is up and a guy who can play LW/C either on the 2nd line or 3rd line to give you some more scoring depth and another weapon on the PP. That 1st can be used to help us move up in the draft or use it to trade back and pick up an extra pick or 2 while still having a 1st round pick. I was thinking about this trade earlier tbh. Can be a very good hockey trade for both sides especially if Wright can play up to his potential.
 
I dont like many marner trades Cozens and Ostlund + 1st round pick sounds like a good deal to me though.

I'd take a pretty soft return on JT....

For example, Tavares visited Boston when he was a UFA...the centre group of UFA is terrible. They can't rebuild because they've got McAvoy, Carlo, Lindholm, Marchand, Pasta etc all signed to be competitive.

Could they do something like Hall or Marchand, maybe accompanied by Reilly for Tavares?

I just think the teams that he visited with prior to signing with us could maybe be a conversation starter if we asked him to waive.

Murray or buyout

Sign
Orlov 6 mil Boston can't afford to sign him
Soucy 3.5 mil
Schenn 2 mil

Rielly Orlov

Marner for Keller + Crouse.

You trade one of Matthews bffs for another, get two players that have a similar cap hit to Marners. Add size and scoring. Will need to look at how bad of a hit it is for defence but yeah.

Definitely need to focus on our blueline. With Nylander and Marner in our hands, I’m really hoping we can acquire Brandt Clarke from LA.

I’d move Brodie while his value is still good and sign Soucy in free agency.

Mayfield would also be another great add to play alongside Rielly.

I wouldn't mind upgrading defense but we definitely need more scoring...and to rely less on 4 forwards.

In hindisght, this is probably an over payment for Arizona, If Keller continues his trend.

Actually, Boston has $3.5 mil in cap space. The bonuses from this year, carry over to next year.... In any case, there is zero chance that Boston could take on Tavares.
