What if we could get out from Brodie on his last season and we could try to get Ryan McDonagh from Nashville?

I think the Anhiem Ducks are going to want to do something this year
Is there a deal there for Marner
They have alot of top prospects on D and forwards

Troy Terry
Vetrano
Ryan Strome
Comtois

There top young players won't be moved
McTavish or there 2nd rd pk

Can I trade you these 2 shiny nickels for your Hundred dollar bill and your nickel?

How did the Leafs end up moving Marner and something else to Philly and receive none of Frost, Provorov, Gauthier or Hart in that proposal?

Marner to the Devils for something around Meier’s RFA rights?

Meier does have some say on where he goes because I think he can just accept the $10 mill QO and walk the next year.

If Meier pushes for the Leafs, they can probably get another significant piece from the Devils too.

Actually, Boston has $3.5 mil in cap space. The bonuses from this year, carry over to next year.... In any case, there is zero chance that Boston could take on Tavares.

Yea, I played with it on Boston's end, it doesn't work. Even moving Forbert...that Pasta extension is big!

I think the point of trading Marner, or Matthews or Nylander for that matter, would be to distribute their salary a little better through the lineup. Meier does not make that happen unless he takes a much cheaper deal than his QO.

Comtois will become a UFA, so we could sign him for free.

About the only team that I can think of, that would really be interested in Tavares, would be Columbus. They are in desperate need of a C for their top line. Whether Tavares would waive to go there.... who knows. I have no idea what the return would look like though. Heck... I'd consider taking their #22 OA pick and 2nd round pick at this point, as a decent deal for us.

Such a move would also leave us pretty weak down the middle, so the solutions would be things like.... RoR as our 2nd line C, Moving Nylander to 2C, or trading Marner as well, and doing a Lindholm/Andersson type of deal.

But... if we moved Tavares AND Marner (for Lindholm/Andersson)... we could always sign RoR as well... and run Matthews/Lindholm/RoR down the middle.... even with signing RoR, Bertuzzi, Killorn, Schenn, Comtois, Acciari as UFA, we should have $5-6 mil left in cap room.... so you could go after an Orlov for example... the challenge being getting guys signed, and leaving cap room for the extending Matthews and Nylander under such a scenario.

What does Meier ask on a long term deal? 8x$8.5? It’s still $2.5 mill cheaper than Marner now and after Marner’s raise it’ll be a lot less.

Leafs still need a top-6 forward or two to compete next season.

JT would have to approve of any deal.

Iam in agreement with you .
We need a deeper top 9

Bertuzzi 5 mil
Killorn 4.5 mil
or
Compher Col 4 mil

I like Jack McBain what are we giving up

To Toronto: Michael McLeod + 5th Round Pick
To New Jersey: Nick Robertson + Sam Lafferty

Re-sign: Noel Acciari

4th line:
Acciari - McLeod - Holmberg

Also if Tavares stays in Toronto (which he most likely will), he needs to permanently be moved to the wing.

To LA Kings: Mitch Marner

To Toronto Maple Leafs:
Quinton Byfield
Alex Iafallo
Sean Durzi or Matt Roy
2024 top-10 protected 1st

Flame away….. too much, too little flame away but add something of value to it beyond “that sucks” or “bwahahaha” because that’s just lame. :)

I feel like Byfield should have been put in the AHL, and kept there for a few years.... He really hasn't impressed as of yet, and his development should have been more in the minors. I don't think he's playing C that much, where you'd like to see him develop. Perhaps he can transition in the future???

It's a bit crazy that it feels like he's underwhelmed in his career... and well, he has.. but he's still only 20 years old. I just don't know what his upside will become.... and to get a guy who hasn't shown much yet, Iafallo... and a top-10 protected 1st.... for an elite forward... Seems a bit underwhelming to me. Roy would be nice, no interest in Durzi.

I know the ship has sailed but I wish we were in on the sam bennett deal, his nuisance skill/game plays well.
So, so, so badly wanted to get Bennett. You just knew he was going to explode in a new environment, and only at the cost of a 2nd rounder?

He’s everything we wanted, and what Dubas erroneously thought we’d get from Foligno.

Dubas absolutely screwed the pooch on passing on Bennett and going for Foligno.

I think the Raw potential is what is the leverage for the Kings because I doubt they would want to part with him either. I am hesitant to speak on their behalf because I am not well informed about them either but I am assuming that's why, I also do think he has potential. And yea we can probably help him transition into a center if that is the long-term plan we have two guys that have good plays for that.

Realistically they will not want to depart with Danault as that removes with 1 - 2 punch of Kopitar and Danault.

We can't ask for Kempe either can we ? Iafallo seems possible, instead of durzi bring back grundstrom?

I know it's on Dubas for making those trades but man some of the moves he made also really backfired when on paper it seemed just so good...

Nick Ritchie. Nick Foligno...You know what I found the common thread...Don't get players named Nick. You're welcome.

I’m quite bullish on Byfield, and think he could be sheltered here with our C depth for him to progress in his development.

Iafallo is a LW I’ve wanted for a while and Roy as well for RHD who is an improvement on Brodie and Holl. I would be open to trading Brodie with Roy on board.

Looking at the cap savings realized by moving Marner and Brodie, we could seriously add with the cap savings…….

While I hate moving Marner and wish more than anything we could win with this core 4, I think we are a better team with this change, and I just don’t feel that Marner has it between the ears to be a clutch playoff player.

If you’re moving Marner, I think the deal NEEDS to start with Clarke coming our way.

Can’t move a franchise altering forward for a few solid players in Iafallo and Roy/Durzi. Also Byfield doesn’t really impress.

I'd definitely want Clark over Byfield as far as top prospects go from LA. Agree with what you've said. In your draft year +3, 22 points (and only 3 goals) in 53 games is VERY low production for a 2nd OA pick.

Draft year + 3 stats from all 2nd OA pick forwards since 2010:
- Seguin (36 pts in 48 games)
- Landeskog (65 pts in 81 games)
- Barkov (59 pts in 66 games)
- Reinhart (47 pts in 79 games)
- Eichel (64 pts in 67 games)
- Laine (50 pts in 82 games)
- N. Patrick (9 pts in 51 games)
- Svechnikov (42 pts in 55 games)
- Kakko (18 pts in 43 games)

So he's around the level of Kakko in terms of NHL production for his age, and well below some of the weaker 2nd OA picks like Reinhart.

Meier UFA, assuming NJ doesn't meet the QO.

Lindholm/Andersson for Marner

JT to Columbus for what was Kings 1st and Columbus 2nd. Columbus badly needs a top line C... and maybe JT isn't quite that anymore, but there really isn't much available.
