Post-Game Talk: Poor discipline and poor reffing is a bad combination

League has made this the instructional video on how to officiate when Connor is playing. Ecstatic of the way the refs brought McDavid down to the level of the other players. That is how you make a truly great league. They were also quite disgusted by Drai’s horrific slash on Doughty, saying it has no place in the game against a great Cali player like that.

Eventually the "coincidence" of a huge spike in controversial officiating/video reviews, the expansion into Las Vegas, and the massive 180 turn to aggressively promote betting on the product all happening at the same time will be seen for what it is.
I don't know if there's a person in this world I despise as much as Cabbie Richards. Used to like him, now I wish he would f*** off and never be on my TV ever again.

NHL has definitely looked at growing the game to reach more casual fans through sports betting, little do they know most kids choose to check box scores or watch highlights online rather than watch live. They are gonna see a huge drop in ratings, live gates etc at this pace. The next generation is gonna have maybe 30% the die hards fans.

NHL needs Canadian teams to keep the league profitable, but also knows fans up north with always support their teams under any circumstances. The end result is this.

I'll probably read these back in the morning and delete them, but it's almost 3am and I'm just as mad as I was 4 hours ago.

f*** you Cabbie.

Just a bit more proof. Blackhawks/Preds. Laviolette busts one of the refs winking at the Blackhawks bench. The ref can

Worst call ever. I have never seen that be a penalty.

All I only need is that sound clip of Tim Peel making comments about purposely wanting to give the opposing team a penalty to know how f***ing corrupt the bastards officials are. The NHL tried to cleanse themselves by firing Peel due to the backlash, but they’re still as dirty as ever. Especially with how they continue to add more and more annoying f***ing betting ads in people’s faces on tv like it’s a given grace.

that would be called rigging a game. if you have such proof i would suggest you get in contact with both the RCMP and FBI and then launch a class action lawsuit against the NHL and all refs

This is an expensive sport that has record low enrolment compared to cheaper to play and more globally known ones. They’re already losing out on new young fans, why not piss off legions of dying off diehards so they can “grow the game” in some sunbelt that only cares about ice when it comes to how much is in their rum and coke while they watch a sport they can actually play.

Coming on 30 years no cup in Canada. And you can’t tell me any of the Canadian teams that made the finals since then weren’t good enough.

And Weekes was once touted as being GM material, and now he’s shilling gambling sites. Pretty disgusted that Connor and Wayne are involved in the ads as well.

Get in contact with deleting your account. God knows every oilers fan here lost brain cells after reading garbage from you having the nerve to yap at others for being frustrated with the refs despite you not even watching the game to begin with.

I’m still not sure that Nurse even touched Aardvark. And yet the refs initially thought that was worthy of a a five minute penalty. We should have known how the evening was going to end I based on how it started with that call.

Funny how the refs didn’t think the same when Knee on knee Giordano 2.0 in Edler did it against Foegele. Nurse may have a temper here and there, but he’s never been a dirty player unlike that f***ing douche in Edler

Cabbie looks like he's dead inside in every gambling ad he's in.

When they announced the review the ref said "upon review it was a trip" so I still think the refs thought they saw a head shot at first due to Nurse's arm coming up after contact + Arvidsson pretending he was dead on the ice.

The problem is that no matter how much the oilers might be dominating the shot clock at 5v5 they’ve only scored 4 times in 3 games. Same as the Kings.

Bad calls or not the Oilers flat out are giving these games away. Doesn’t help that yet again the Oilers clearly have the second best goalie in the league and Skinner is showing he’s not ready to be the guy to make the big save.

It’s one thing to have this happen once in a series. Twice in three games and nearly in game 2 as well the Oilers. How does this team have such little composure? Especially after last years playoff run. This isn’t a young team just trying to cut its teeth. This is a team with its core in its late 20s, all with ample playoff experience. And they’re just blowing it.
Its 2-1 were good

Probably OT, but what is wrong with a team steam rolling another in momentum and calls? The NFL allows it. What do they know?

Some of the penalties were borderline.

The Desharnais penalty and the Draisaitl penalty were terrible calls, like wtf.

Nurse's penalty was indeed a trip, dive or not. RNH's slash was indeed a penalty and he said so in the post-game. Kostin is in a good battle and has to hold the guy's head into the ice in front of a ref for what reason? We are still taking our share of dumb penalties.

I think the puck hit the stick. It was inconclusive. Ekholm failed to clear it and Nurse bungled it after so, it's unfortunate but also we can only control what we can control, and we failed.

Darnell Nurse continues to just absolutely suck under pressure, I don't know what it its but he really sucks hard when the pressure is at its highest and I wish that wasn't the case but it's been brain fart city when the stakes are high.

I didn't have a problem with Stuart Skinner tonight really. Made an awesome save on Byfield. Just the other guy is playing stellar too.

I don't want to rag on this guy but we're going to need more from Zach Hyman. He completely lost his check on the first goal, and he isn't producing. We need him to step up.

I still have a lot of faith in this team. RNH had 100 points, his goals are coming. Hyman's goals are coming. Kane's goals are coming. Korpisalo is eventually going to crack more if we keep peppering shots, just need some damn discipline guys.

“We’re going to make high sticks a reviewable play to make sure we get it right!”

*Review process does its job and shows it was a high stick in a high stakes moment*

Then the officials and the league piss their pants. They are too f***ing afraid to make the right call via the process that they invented.

That night was so god damn bad that it’s very difficult to conclude that there isn’t some sort of agenda here.

Because the Kings player pulled Kostin down on top of him

The crowd called that penalty and the refs were looking for penalties, This stuff happens all the time in battles like that. No way that is a penalty

LA needs these PP's to build momentum because they are getting destroyed 5x5 imo.

kick in the nuts. No sleep at all, then I leave at 345 AM and come across car accident on top of local Mountain. Thought there was a body inside, but no body, just booze. They took off

We r far from outta it. We need more scoring. Be nice to get Kane, Hyman, and Nuge going. I wish McLeod would skate more with that puck. It seemed he was very reluctant to skate .

I was gonna leave a comment in the Kings board but cant be bothered. What a bunch of idiots. They hate Canada

Kings player did pull Kostin down but if Kostin tries to get up and stay in the play he at least doesn't get a penalty.

Big thing that needs to be noted IMO is that the Kings have realized what the officiating is going to be like. They're drawing calls on retaliation plays like that and by embellishing. The Oilers need to adapt instead of playing the game the way they think it should be called. I'm not saying the Oilers need to start diving but they need to stop giving refs the opportunity to hand LA power plays. The post whistle stuff needs to get shelved for a bit. The officials have targets on Draisaitl, Kane, and Desharnais. They need to realize it, even if it's bullshit.

Basically the better goalie on the night has generally won each game. The Oilers are getting a bit outcoached right now. I would actually like them to shake up the lines:

Hyman McDavid Bjugstad
RNH Draisaitl Foegele
Kane McLeod Yamamoto
Shore Ryan Kostin

Can't believe they got that review wrong.

It was pretty obvious in the very 1st replay they showed that it was hit with a high stick. Not really sure how this is even in question in the world of super slo-mo replay.

My only worry during the review was Ekholm got his stick on it first(I knew it hitting him in the back should not be an issue) because they kept stopping it short or going back to regular speed on the replay just as the puck fell to the ice so it was hard to tell who touched it first. I went to bed thinking Ekholm must have played it but after watching some more replays this morning it's abundantly obvious Valardi played the puck first & they're trying to claim no clear evidence it was touched with the high stick.

It's just insane that hey have review to get it right & they still get it wrong. I said they same thing when we got the benefit of an utterly ridiculous review .that called back the Coleman goal against Calgary in game #4 last year.

Just terrible.
