Post-Game Talk: Poor discipline and poor reffing is a bad combination

Hockey will never ever be consistently popular in a place without snow and ice. Basketball can remain as popular as it does there because it isn’t just a novelty to a fanbase full of fake So Cal-ites
The league believes that fans love the digital ads on the boards. Another reason why the NHL continues to lag and drop viewership compared to other pro sports like the NBA or NFL. It’s run by stupid f***ing people, and frankly ever won’t change.

Havent seen a team lost so many momentum since Tricky dick runned around in shortpants!

The fot on the gaspedal and dont let it off before they are out of reach in the games.

Bad penaltys, bad reffing doesnt help either, but we should be up 3-0 anyway.

Its get in their head when they dont finish them off long before 60 min.

If Skinner dont make a Soup performance, it will be 3 straight Oiler wins, and im gonna bet on it.

This is a charity league. What dumb shit league can review a play for 5 minutes and still get the call wrong ? ESPN angles show the puck clearly touched the stick.. yet the dumb xxxxx still get it wrong ? What type of dumb shit angles does the league have at its disposal? Oilers need to put game 4 away early in the first. Stop playing down to this garbage team.

When almost every third party including Buccigross, Jesse Pollock, Biznasty, Steve Kouleas and more say we got jobbed on the high stick, we probably got jobbed. Jesse and Biz especially hate the the Oil

Derek Ryan’s GWG called back = conclusive enough.

Vilardi high stick that should’ve negated Moore’s GWG = nah it’s okay because our billionaire pro sports that employ technology that costs a lot of money can’t determine enough conclusive evidence over a Twitter user using his iPhone and knowing the laws of physics.

Even f***ing Greg Wyshynski said we got jobbed too and that guy dislikes the oilers with a passion. The dumb ass league and refs didn’t want precious Will Ferrell and the dumb ass king fans to cry though.

Kings : run a boring Minnesota wild 2.0 trap hockey.
Oilers: patiently wait for their players to get a line change because the kings won’t attack.
Kings fans: -boos the oilers-

No wonder they’re so f***ing dumb there.

We're unfortunately still in the stage of "but I love this game too much to stop watching" for most of the diehards (like those posting here). They'll leverage shitting on loyal fanbases to grow fairweather ones as long as they can.

It eventually reaches an equilibrium where you're driving one existing fan away for every new one you gain. We might be at that point or fast approaching it. You can only sacrifice flagship markets to seek convert fans in crap markets for so long.

That’s why plugs get jobs. The stars are too rich to buy into this madness. We are stuck with the NHL employing scrubs that need to play along.

This is the worst f***ing reffing I think I have ever seen. In playoffs too. This league and their refs are honestly a joke.

The only way we win this if we shit kick LA 7-1 and blow them out. Any game that’s tight/close, the refs will manage and help the Kings win.

2 straight wins where the Kings score the game tying and winning goal in overtime on the power play.

The league should consider adding an "illegal defense" minor penalty for the 1-3-1. What a shit-tacular game watching a team not even send 1 of their players in on the forecheck or even into their attacking end when the opposing team has the puck. We should just pass the puck around in our end and have our forwards skate circles and then lob the puck into their zone rinse and repeat.

All part of their plan
1) trap
2) dive and embellish to get a call from their buddies in the Refs
3) attempt to capitalize on the gifted powerplays.

I’m not gonna discredit that some of the penalties the oilers have taken this series werent legit, but it’s been so f***ing one sided with the garbage officiating. What Kostin did was exactly what Danault did to McDavid. What Nuge did with the slash was exactly what Danault did to McDavid. Results? Two penalties for the Oilers and none for the Kings for the exact identical plays. It’s literally bullshit, and nobody can convince or dispute me otherwise.

I like how the dumb refs immediately wanted to give Nurse a major despite Arvidsson diving like he’s auditioning for the Olympics, but when known piece of shit Edler does the same kneeing attempt for the 3rd f***ing time this season on Foegele tonight, they won’t even bother mentioning a major. f*** the refs.

Man we're getting jobbed aren't we. Let's win this in 6. We are dominating the play 5v5. Sucks were playing against two teams

The problem is that no matter how much the oilers might be dominating the shot clock at 5v5 they’ve only scored 4 times in 3 games. Same as the Kings.

Bad calls or not the Oilers flat out are giving these games away. Doesn’t help that yet again the Oilers clearly have the second best goalie in the league and Skinner is showing he’s not ready to be the guy to make the big save.

It’s one thing to have this happen once in a series. Twice in three games and nearly in game 2 as well the Oilers. How does this team have such little composure? Especially after last years playoff run. This isn’t a young team just trying to cut its teeth. This is a team with its core in its late 20s, all with ample playoff experience. And they’re just blowing it.

It damn near impossible for there to be a blowout when one team gets penalized for anything and everything possible and the other team gets free roam all over the ice. This game was the perfect example where so many time you’d see the kings get away with an obvious penalty where the oilers had been called for that earlier in the game.

Should have been a sweep. The refs looks corrupt but the Oilers are handing these wins to the Kings. How many deflections or dirty goals will we score?

If there isn't an embellishment call against Arvidsson in the next game then the league needed this rivalry I guess. All the fans booing McDavid know who he is lol

That 4 on 3 early was a work imo. I'm more upset about that than all the stuff that followed.

I don’t remember the Kings doing this when they won cups. Doughty, and Kopitar were leaders that pulled for every inch. Now the other players look for freebies. To think the Kings were a respected bunch in the past. They are back to the flopping Hrudey’s of the past.

As my name says on these boards, I‘m the independent observer of the game of hockey.

I can understand that Oilers fans are not too pleased about the officiating. There have been some critial calls that could have gone either way but were more often than not to the detriment of the Oilers. However, things like this happen in every sport and you just have to put your head down and work even harder in my view. Try not to give the refs any room for interpretation. The Oilers need to score more. Regular season success was because of NHL leading, dominating offense. As an Oiler fan you know that they usually need more than 2 goals to win a game because defense/goaltending is not the strength (I know it got better after the deadline, but the Oilers are a candidate to win the cup because of offense not defense). Hence, the Oilers need to generate more goals or this is soon over.

Instead of lamenting about the calls, the Oilers and us should focus on next game and what can be done to get a win.

So far the Kings are getting better goaltending… and they play very strong team defense… they have probably the best two-way center combo in the league and all are buying in. The result is that the Oilers are getting less high grade chances than they are used to and would be required to offset the goals they allow.

The margin for error got much smaller now being down 1:2.

McDavid was excellent on the PP but his line at even strength has been getting burned these playoffs. Connor is down 4 goals at even strength.

In general the Oilers generate very little at even strength scoring and do a poor job of hunting down rebounds (well the Kings box out well, but you need to find ways to score on rebounds especially in the playoffs).

I think it is time to put McD and Drai together on one line and see if they can kick start even strength scoring.

It would also help if Skinner has once in a while an outstanding game. He is now sitting at 90% safe percentage… usually that needs to be higher to have success in the playoffs…

My bet is that since on some of the camera angles you couldn’t tell the stick hit the puck they deemed it inconclusive…even though on other camera angles it was clear as day that the puck was hit by the stick. They probably think that it must be obvious in every camera angle available for it to be conclusive…orrrr the result that the league wanted was already in the bag so they gave LA the win.

California native referees would give us a fairer shack than these guys from Ontario or Quebec. They are the problem with the game!

To be fair, yes, there have been times where this team shoots themselves in the foot. But the officiating is a huge factor as well. Hard to create or continue momentum when an oilers will get penalized for the exact same shit a kings player does but they don’t get penalized for it either. Of course some of the oiler penalties have been warranted, but you’d think the kings are full of Lady Byng nominees with the way the penalties differentials have been.

Look at the dumb refs refusing to make a call last game too when Iafallo punched Desharnais in the face as an example. There’s no doubt the officials wouldn’t raise their hands to penalize the Oilers if roles were reversed in that scenario. Draisaitl took full responsibility for his penalty, but there’s no doubt that he’s 100% correct with how he views the officiating.

Draisaitl post game: "You don’t call a clear knee on knee right in front of you, and then you call a slashing penalty... just don't really know what the standard is right now.”
He isn’t wrong in that regard. The officiating has been absolutely horse shit.
