sad how Dubas through his media shills is trying to make the fan base believe that any failure in the playoffs is all on the players and he in no way should be held accountable while he's also trying to set himself up to take the credit for any success

i doubt the payers are amused with there GM setting them up to get chucked under the bus

Lol and who is responsible for the core ?

who cares if he can't get it done here ? Keep him because he may win somewhere else?

This is sad ... he's trying and learning and one day I hope we win
If Kerfoot scores on the breakaway in game 6 OT, is Dubas suddenly a better GM? End of the day, they didn’t get it done over the last few years despite incredible improbabilities. Dubas’s detractors have made up their mind but imo he iced teams good enough to win over the last few years. That is all a GM can do. But I will admit the Murray decision was and continues to baffle me. Hope I am wrong.

Mickey Mouse's dog really said that?

That's an interesting question. Some here have argued (not me) he was gifted the core. By that logic, he's not responsible.

While it is true that he didn’t bring them in, he is responsible for sticking by them after every loss. Time will tell if that was a good decision.

Name a contender that is allocating that amount of cap to a back-up goalie, bottom 6 winger and bottom pairing Dman.......I'll wait.
Carolina - Andersen, Skjei, Kotkaniemi = 14.6m
Seattle - Dreidger, Oleksiak, Bjorkstrand = 13.5m
NYI - Varlamov, Romanov, Bailey = 12.5m
LA - Petersen, Roy, Iafallo = 12.2m
Pittsburgh - Desmith, Dumoulin, Zucker = 11.4m
Vegas - Quick, Martinez, Roy = 11.2m
Winnipeg - Rittich, Schmidt, Niederreiter = 10.9m
Edmonton - Campbell, Kulak, Foegle = 10.5m
NJ - Blackwood, Graves, Tatar = 10.5m
Colorado - Francouz, Johnson, Eller = 10.4m
Boston - Swayman, Carlo, Coyle = 10.3m
Etc.

Absolutely he's been resigned. No team would let their GM go nuts at the deadline only to be looking for a new GM 3 months later
Losing to Tampa and announcing a Dubas extension will go over so well with Leaf nation. I am sure it will give Leaf fans more comfort and hope than the respect they gained in the handshake line last year. Then again, it is MLSEL.

Win or lose in the First Round I'd give him another year. If they make the Cup Final I give him three. Win the Cup I hand him an empty cheque.

If somehow they fail this time it won't be on Dubas and he deserves one year back to make some tough decisions and transactons with his.management team. This team is built for the playoffs. Schenn and McCabe need fo both be on the playoff roster. Either Holl or Lilly sits/rotates.

I'd also see a couple of Reillys minutes split among other D Men. This might be as important a decision as any come playoffs.

I would extend him because I think he has finally realizes that you need to build a team to play any sort of game.
We could always go toe to toe offensively
We can play a defensive game
We can play a tough game

Hope is not going to give mathews what ever he wants.

If these guys cannot get it done, then they are the one at fault. Dubas has put together a team that has been good enough to win many rounds. The guys on the ice are the ones who have not got it done. How about we put some of this on the players? Has Dubas made mistakes? Yes. But he has also built the best teams this franchise has seen since expansion.

Win or Walk. A win for this team would also include losing the SCF in a competitive series. An ECF appearance may also be a win if they are competitive in it.

If he walks we will be the biggest losers imo.

I think this fanbase are nuts. 75% want to keep this guy on without a series win. It's pure madness how bi polar people around here. Because he made a few trades? Ignoring all the bad contracts and the lost years? A questionable tending tandem?

The bar is oh so low around here.

Please bring him back. I have hated some moves he made early on as much as anyone, but he has learned. From all appearances our drafts under him have been quite good despite little picks, and his salary cap machinations have been excellent.

I like Keefe, but another 1st round exit and we might have to change that up though.

Why hold a GM responsible for anything if it's all on the players? Why fire any gm ?

He’s made mistakes but he made a justifiable decision to stick with the core. He finally has surrounded his core with the right players to compete in a long playoff run.

If we fail , it won’t be on Dubas, it will be on the core he put so much faith in. But honestly, who do you get rid of from the core four? It’s not going to be Tavares. Nylander is playing the best hockey of his career. Magic Mitch is on a different planet right now. Matthews had been a consistent elite scorer till this year. It’s easy to say trade one, but you know you and others would be the first to whine if they traded one of these guys and has a career year.

Easy to say get an elite goalie, difficult to attain. Markstrom lights out last season, this season he’s having trouble. The teams that have elite goalies aren’t going to give them to you.

it's unreal - this fear that the next guy could be worse. If Dubas can't get this team past the first round find someone who can. Like the Raptors did with their coach of the year

I know.

Imagine being the head and vision of a corporation that spins it's wheels for 5 years. The customers are giving this company feedback telling them what is wrong with the product. They do nothing but ignore the customers. Then, suddenly in the last year this head's contract, he scrambles together as much of what the customers demanded all along. The problem is because it was rushed together there are flaws (Not unlike our tending potentially). If the customers feel the product is better overall (We win) it works out. Does it mean that this person is the right person for the job? No. There is other dynamics to the product as well, like how much he pays for the production of the product (Our contracts). Do you trust that person still?

All I see is low bar fans with knee jerk reactions to anything and everything they perceive to be positive.

He hasn't made any glaring errors. We have promising young players and no significantly overpaid players. Dubas is in the "could be worse" area. I'd change the coach for him, before I cut him loose.

Yes but KEEFE is definitely out!

Dubas greatest mistake this season is that, all the move Dubas made this trade deadline should had been made last offseason. Dubas should had traded Kerfoot, Engvall, and Holl, and sign Perron and Acciari.

I know it's easily said that Dubas should of traded this player and sign this player instead, but if Dubas finally understand this team needs a change in philosophy. Why can't Dubas see that during the offseason, when change was easier to make.

The only thing this team has been missing in his tenure is playoff success. They have broken almost every other franchise record. You cannot just choose to look at one side. Yes, ultimate success means a cup, but if they guy has built the best team possible and the core players piss themselves at every opportunity to take the next step, I'm looking at the players more than the GM.

I have a hard time blaming Dubas. So many things went against him with the fixed cap... really bad timing.

You think if we keep the same team and change the GM we have different success?

Players need to get it done.

Burke never made the playoffs and the vast majority wanted to give him a lifetime contract . If Dubies turfed the majority of his supporters will turn on him or at least go quiet just like Burkes did ,

Dubie had a decent deadline but it's far from the overwhelming praise some fans are giving him

- picked up a solid D but he's not close to some of the other D that were moved -Ekholm/Orlov/Chycrhum

- picked up a solid frwd but he's not at the level he was or as good as some of the other moved - Meir/Kane

- the rest of the p/u are dime a dozen depth guys

but but but he didn't give up any of our top prospects , we only have one and no one else gave up top prospects either

Dubie's deadline was decent but it could have been far far better

Holl is a useful player (in the right role) on a decent contract. I don’t see much upside to moving him if most upgrades would have cost too much

As for Perron and Acciari. Perron isn’t really viable at his full cap hit Detroit gave him, so we were never really an option there most likely, and Acciari for all we know we were in on and he chose to go elsewhere. It’s hard to critique not making a move that we don’t know actually available to us.

I’d absolutely move Kerfoot for an upgrade, but I’m not pushing him out the door either. Good player, very versatile, plays well for us in the post season usually. Lack of finish is a point of some frustration, but overall he clearly brings value imo.

This all said, Engvall 100% should have been moved on from earlier. Absolutely the wrong choice to keep him, but I’m glad they’ve realized that finally
