That's your post, right?

So, in the other thread you argue with me that underlying stats and quality of play are not as important as position in the standings. In this thread, the standings are "historically pretty important" but when the team was 3-1 you were concerned about the way they played in a game they won. So one moment it's "2 points are all that matter" and the next it's not.

See, this is the problem with engaging with some of you. I hold the same consistent position, whether you agree with my opinion or not, while you waffle back and forth to suit the moment.
I said I was concerned after the Philly game. We were 1-1 after an also not so great showing in Carolina.
But again. What does my concern mean?? Nothing. We got the two points. Much more important than my concern
After Tampa I admitted hey that’s a great game. Let’s keep it up. 2-1

Against Washington I knew we played against a shite team. But hey. Let’s keep it rolling. 3-1

Detroit I actually DID NOT blame DJ for that.
3-2. Let’s see if the team responds with good play.

Buffalo 3-3.

But here’s the thing you still refuse to see. Im
Not judging DJ on the last 6. I’m judging DJ on the last 300.

And now you’ll do some nitpicky bullshit thing yada yada. Yeah man. We likely won a game last year where I said “hey that was a well coached game by DJ “ even though we weren’t in a good spot in the standings. And you’ll say “hey if you care about the standings why were you please after that game??? We weren’t in the playoffs! Ha gotcha!” No. Sorry man. Overall dj is a piss poor coach with a piss poor record.

Regardless of whatever im concerned with the way we play or not…2 points is the most important thing lol. That’s that. Whether burrowsaurus enjoyed how we played or didn’t. What really matters is two points.

Fair enough. And the funny part with these arguments is that I actually don't care whether DJ stays or goes. But I can't stand watching these logically inconsistent arguments get made.
The illogically inconsistent argument of wins good losses bad.

This place is definitely up and down quickly, no doubt about that
Feel like it’s been pretty down for several seasons.

Re: the bolded.

Sounds good. Doesn't matter what kind of roster he had for those 300, all you know is the results haven't been good. Anyway, I honestly don't care whether he stays or goes. Same with Dorion. As a matter of fact, the one thing I'm 100% certain of is they will both be let go at some point in the future.

It’s hard to get past the defensive zone coverage for me.
There are so many teams any given year with less talent that somehow know how to defend as a team.
There are times where the team looks unstoppable, move the pucks fast all over the ice and out of our end - but I think that’s mainly the talent just taking over.
So that’s on coaching. I want it to work with DJ but for f***s sake.

and Dorion, despite having backassed his way into it - has a pretty loaded team. Unfortunately he has also limited its potential over the past few years with idiotic signings inevitably bought out, and wasted picks etc.
now a simple inability to do math, or had no backup plan when whatever his first plan was failed.
This team should have cap space, boatloads of picks, and a stacked prospect pool.
Also he should be fired just for consistently sounding like a dolt whenever he speaks to the media.

Well yes. Every coach and every GM will get fired.

Doesn’t really seem to matter DJs roster lol. We look the same outside of a game here and there.

He was and how often does one get publically called out by a freaking porn star on Twitter.... However he's played for a lot of teams: he's seen well run ones and poorly run ones.

A bum publically calling you out is never a great look. Hence why he removed it.
technically Del Zoto is still with the Sens.

he will receive 775 K

It is possible that there is a contract rule that could jeopardize the payments if he misbehaved and spoke against the club

you don't want poor tweets to cost you 775 K

A tweet will not invalidate an employment contract like an NHL SPC.

He removed it because it is bad form.

It really made no sense at all.

I still have a hard time believing Pierre McGuire was the one who recommended him. The dude was finished before he got here, everyone knew that.

The only one who wouldn't would be Pierre because he's a moron.

Dorion has said many times that the buck stops with him, so I see no relevance to those that claimed PM was to blame. PD still made the final call to sign the contract.

I don’t know why our insider takes on the Sens are always cryptic and written like they’re from the Riddler. “I’m not a trade, I’m not a sign. But me on the ice, you will not find.”
That’s because he’s not an insider

He was signed 2 weeks after McGuire was hired. He must have made a hell of an argument in his few days with the team.

if you remember that summer (2021), it was suppose to be FYOUS. EUGENE IS UNHAPPY. He hires Pierre McG.

When Pierre McG was hired, there was a ton of confusion as to who reports to who? In a press conference McG himself suggested he was the Boss.

I remember the chatter on TSN1200 for about 2 weeks. No one seemed to know what the hierarchy was.

maybe there was confusion on the inside as well. Maybe there was confusion in Melnyk's mind as well. remember, he was 8 months away from the end. He may have been confused as to what he wanted.

So short term, he follows Pierre M. lets him be boss for a while to see.. Del Zotto gets signed.

It was literally said in the first interview with Dorion after the hiring that McGuire reports to him. He made it very clear

If the Senators knew about Pinto in the summer, it somewhat makes Pierre's EA Computer GM moves make a bit more sense.

It seems off to me that they knew, because they were rumoured to be exploring deals to fit Pinto in at 2M.

I posted this a week or so ago in the DJ thread but Claude Julien has been at CTC…….

Take it for what it’s worth
This has to happen. He’s not too old is he? 60?

I love Julien. Have been asking for him for two years . A winning Stanley Cup coach who gets the best out of his teams and usually makes the playoffs

He also has an actual defensive system unlike DJ
