I am so happy right now. The player that "doesn't become available" too often is gone :) Anyone with eyes knew he had to go. I have zero faith in BLuc and I don't see success in the near future, but at least there is something to work with over the next decade. Nothing was possible as long as PLD and his contract were with the Kings.

24 million dollars in space and we only really need to re-sign QB.

So let's say we give him 5M, we'll have 19 million for a 3C, bottom six physical forward, and maybe an upgrade on LHD.

Not sure what will happen with the RW spot with Arvy likely leaving.
We are missing at least one top 6 forward

I have that happy feeling too, but as soon as I do, I feel creeping dread about what dumdum is going to do now with the cap space

This was a good move for both teams, IMO.

The way I look at it. PLD has two realistic outcomes for next season

He is Richards 2.0
He returns to previous levels and is a decent 2C

The first option is obviously a disaster for the Kings cap, not only in the present but even into the future with a new GM stuck with that albatross. But even option two wouldn't be great either, it's overpayment of a player who is never going to move the needle for a team lacking star talent like the Kings, but he also isn't going to be bad and help the tank, it's like the NHL's version of Kirk Cousins.

I'm really curious to see how he does next year, part of me thinks fading Blake is a smart move and I might invest in some PLD bets next season.
I wouldn't be surprised if he had a decent year in Washington and then went back to being a ghost in year 2. Guy needs a sports psychologist.

with the kings luck, kuemper will suck and PLD put up 60-70 points next season
I actually think that will be the case. PLD can put up 50-70 points, he just does nothing to help the team win other than that though and is a huge liability and boat anchor contract. But he definitely should put up some points in Washington.

I'll take that over the Cam Talbot/Pheonix Copley starting tandem we had last year. I actually think it's pretty significantly better.
I can see them adding Campbell when he gets bought out too. Him and Kuemper looked good in LA once before, even as a tandem when Quick was hurt

PLD could put up 100 assists next season and I wouldn't care. I've been watching this team since 2006 and he's like the only player I've ever truly disliked.
This times 1000. I don't think I've ever disliked or even hated a player more on the Kings. I think he's the only player I've truly hated. I've been frustrated with punching bags like Randy Jones in the past or disgusted with Avery etc, but I've never just thoroughly hated everything about a player before PLD.

It is crazy, in Winnipeg fans want Cheveldayoff our GM fired yet every single 1st round pick he has made has made it to the NHL and most have overachieved.
And yet what have the Jets accomplished? He's been given a lotta rope yet the Jets have basically nothing to show for it

You and I are on the same wavelength because those were the other 2 players that was on my mind when I was making that post. As much as I weren't fans of Avery or Jones, they were relatively insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

To be fair, Jets have a good team that could go far in the playoffs compared to the Kings. This trade still bad, but 5 years less and frees up little over 3 mil in cap.
