I didn’t say we didn’t need an upgrade. But Allen ain’t it.

And again, any backup we get is going to be a wildcard. It’s the nature of the position.
I didnt say we needed to get Allen either. I was lamenting the fact he was gone by season start, but I would take Milhouse tied to the posts over Primeau at this point.

I like this thread idea. But people tend to see positivity as naive and a sign of weakness. And negativity as sober and realistic. Its really the ying and the yang of habs fandom.

Let us be real here folks.
They got a serious boost from Laine.
But their wins are also against bottom feeders for the most part.
That being said, there are a lot of horrible teams in the league right now....
It is insane to think that a couple more wins and we are already a middle of the pack team.

That being said, no, I will stick with my original prediction of a 8-12 pick this year.

That’s the thing, so do we get to that standing finish tumbling ass first or sauntering into it cocksure and with encouragement?

Do we want to look valiant but under-experienced or incoherent and incapable? It’s a thin line between the two but I think we’ve seen them play brave for two years and this year they have been playing like morons, so if they’ve really turned the corner we have to root for them to be as good as possible.

Well, making the playoffs with this team is maybe not such a good idea anyway. They aren't that strong and even if they do make it, it will almost for sure be as a wild card and out first round. That in turn means getting a much worse draft number as well as losing a chance on the lottery. It leads to being a "not just good enough team" stuck in the middle forever.
You don’t think the experience would be more impactful to the cohort of young players we have than picking a slightly better prospect at the draft table?

Had a good home stand, been playing better lately but we beat the Ducks in overtime. Nashville and Islanders without Barzal. Not exactly the '76 Canadiens. Only good team we played was a loss against Washington.

The next series of away games will be a great barometer for the Habs. They have played 16 games at home where they have a 56.25% point percentage. Matching Evans against the top lines of other teams has been a successful strategy for MSL, but he can't do it on the road

The Habs have a point percentage of 29.17% on the road. That's terrible, second last in the league in fact. Just cleaning that up would be a win for me

Even though Habs are last in East, they are still in the mix. We can thank the shitty conference they're in to be in that spot and still be 5 pts out of a playoff spot. So before things fall apart when they start to play legit contenders after Christmas, I will post desired results here. If the team starts to lag in the standings, I will go over to the Tank Thread.

Desired results for tonight:

- MTL reg. win vs. PIT: MTL reg. win = MTL moves 1 pt behind PIT with 2 games in hand.

- CBJ reg. loss vs. WSH: CBJ reg. loss + MTL win = MTL ties CBJ at 27 pts, however CBJ will stay ahead due to more RWs.
- CHI reg. win vs. NYI: NYI reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 2 pts behing NYI with 2 games in hand.

- DET vs. PHI: DET reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 1 pt ahead of DET / PHI loss + MTL win = MTL moves 3 pts behind PHI with 1 game in hand.
*main key here is that the game doesn't end up in OT. We don't need both teams picking up points.*

- CGY vs. TBL: TBL reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 3 pts behind TBL, who currently hold the 2WC. However TBL has 2 games in hand on MTL.
*we will most likely prefer CGY loses because they are currently out of a playoff spot and we'd like it to stay that way to improve MTL's CGY pick.*

If MTL wins and DET loses, MTL would leapfrog BUF and DET.

Correction: a handful of teams playing well (Wpg, Min, Caps) but no powerhouses, which has had the effect of creating league parity

That’s the reality, mainly driven by salary cap constraints, many are unwilling to accept…
