No reason to protect 4-4-1
Brodin will be a UFA and doesn't have to sign anywhere until AFTER the seattle draft.
Chance of losing Soucy if he resigns with Wild
They better have a pretty good idea on what they're doing with the expansion draft if they do.We'll re-sign Brodin this offseason.

Brodin agent and Guerin will / could have a handshake agreement in place and Brodin doesn't have to be protected in Seattle draft ..... In the drawer agreements are a common practice between agents and GM'sLeaving Brodin as a UFA opens a whole other can of worms. Better we re-sign him before, rather than have to compete with 30 other clubs for that privilege. Put another way, would you rather lose him for nothing, or trade him/Dumba for a 2C? The idea that he will sign with us even though other teams are offering him up to 10M more on a long term deal in, say, FLA(no state income tax) is being a little presumptuous.

Yeah I suppose we don't have many forwards worth saving. They'll explore the best trade that they can make with Dumba, and if it's not what they're looking for, then they go 4-4-1 and lose Kunin or Greenway who basically have and are going to be relegated to 3rd liners. Becoming less and less of a major loss.
If we do trade for a Top 6 C, Ek would be exposed in the ED.
I highly doubt that
What a series! I must say the Wild come as advertised. They are much better than any media here (Vancouver) say they are. Yesterday looks very different if they got one bounce or Markstrom doesn’t stand on his head. Just a cautionary tale about talk of trading Matt Dumba. As a Canuck fan I would happily watch a trade for a D man like him. He has heart and skill. Game 1 he dominated Petersson like I haven’t really seen before. If he is on the trade block I know I would certainly be interested. Just an outside opinion, not meant to be rude but guys like that are harder to find than #2 centers. If he is on the block, what do you think it would take? I’m terrible at proposals but would something like Gaudette (very promising young center) with a second and a solid D prospect (Woo is who I was thinking) get it done?

I forget who said it here after that 4-1 series loss to St. Louis, but apathy, apathy is absolutely the word. This doesn’t even phase me.
Long overdue in my opinion.
