Playoff Keefe

You have to be joking if you think regular season success is relevant to anything. When is the regular season parade? We are one messed up fan base. Regular season lol.
You have to be joking to think it isn't a factor in keeping them.

Is there an example out there where a coach or GM is fired after a regular season like that?

Trotz isn't a good fit for the way this roster is constructed. His systems stiffle offense and suffocate you defensively while relying on all 4 lines playing grind it out hockey.

You might as well move all of Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly if you bring in a coach like that.

That's why ge was the perfect fit for that Islanders roster, his team just aged very quickly on him.
He had different look in Nashville than he had in Washington. He can coach both, which is why I would like to look at him.

I mean I'd probably suggest first removing Holl for Lilly, adding Bunting back to the 1st line, moving Kerfoot down to 2LW, and replacing Spezza with either Simmonds, Clifford, or Robertson. Perhaps move Willy back to 3RW where he had success late in the season. No need to pull out JT from the lineup.
I hear you .. those changes would help .. but we can't keep getting steamrolled virtually every shift JT is on da ice .. we are playing short handed .. we are losing game mo every shift he plays as ice tilts back into our end .. it is da biggest reason we are where we are .. if we had an average NHL 2C right now we are up 3-1 heading home .. i can't believe I am seeing this occurring as I did not expect it

I’ll guarantee you Keefe is gone if we lose this series. Feel free to remind of it. Nobody gives a shit about the regular season and THIS team, we’re beyond it.

How disappointed we are after this season you should look whole outlook of this season. We had great regular season, we have been also good in the playoffs. Not whole series but it's now 2-2 and we have one the worst seeding in first round ever. It would be pretty odd to fire GM after this season, but I think the question is that what his going to do after this? It might be time to do some bold or it might be make or break season next year. Do we play waiting game one more year, if this goes sour.

f*** I don't want to discuss about next season now. Our season is on.

It comes down to what upper management thinks. I believe Dubas and (probably) Keefe will get another year regardless of playoff results. Others see it the opposite way.

Agree, I think the core will be altered this summer if they can't get it done this playoffs.

Tell ya what I don't like. Campbell debating whether to get pulled. Coach pulled you, sit down and take the medicine. Keefe gave him too much rope.

Keefe was too indecisive and turned it into a charade. Should've pulled him at 3-0, 4-0 at the latest. Didn't even pull him immediately after the 5-0 goal, but waited for another whistle to do it.

He's trying to be their teammate instead of leader. I have never seen that before. I've seen goalies loose a screw after getting pulled but never a debate.

He should have called a timeout after 2nd goal. Not to regroup his team but to kill tampas momentum

Agreed, he doesnt seem like an authority figure. In the event of another first round loss, Barry Trotz is currently unemployed. He seems to have an authoritarian presence.

Knowing how sensitive Campbell can be i think they are taking a passive approach

Cant blame Keefe here. Campbell really is our only hope. Last thing you want is to destroy whatever confidence he has

But if you are going to pull, pull him.

Yep, if the Leafs lose to Tampa (they still have a good shot, so I'm not saying they're done for) a Keefe coached team will have lost consecutive first rounds with home ice advantage, and a 3rd with a team they were tied with in the standing.

A good regular season is nice, but without playoff results it means nothing.

I can concede that Keefe had it tough this year going against Tampa Bay who are coming off of 2x cup wins, but that's why he should have taken care of business last year and gotten himself a little leash.

For comparison, Trotz had far better results than Keefe and just got fired. Leafs fans need to stop being complacent with mediocre results.

How about Trotz getting fired after what he accomplished and not just in the regular season?
You should peak over at the Isles board to see what they think about that firing.

They also didn't make the playoffs, how is that a good comparison?

I think Dubas would have to go too. Can't see him firing his buddy and he put his job on the line for this core
If the Leafs go out 1st round again, Dubas' head has to roll....enough already, regular season success means squat.
Dubas out, Keefe out, Nylander out, bring in Trotz, bring in a tough, young Dman to play on the 1st pair (via Willie trade) Get a grinding winger for Tavares (Knies?), Get a legit #1 goalie

Keefe for sure. Dubas I'm on the fence with, but I think he's too emotionally attached to this core to make a bold move or 2. and it may be time for someone else to right the ship.

Trotz getting fired is lunacy.

Keefe getting fired would be much deserved.

Jacques Martin, Ron Wilson. If you include in-season firings, Ftorek. Dave Lewis and Tony Granato were both replaced, but remained with their organization.

What years were each fired in, any of them finish with 115 points?

That's why Dubas has to go, he'd never have the stones to trade Willie
