I liked inserting Spezza into the lineup, but didn't like Holl for Liljegren, or reuniting 88 & 91. Good call on the timeout, but we didn't really emerge from it any more composed.

Keefe is learning and not panicking, while is great to see.
Holl plays exactly how most predicted, which is creating a goal for the other team

Keefe is coaching the best series he’s ever coached right now. His lineup decisions have been fantastic and he did a great job adjusting to Tampa’s new zone entry tactics on their PP.

I agree that 88+91 disappointed and that Holl did not have a great night but this doesn't mean I think those were bad coaching decisions.

I think we are best with Kampf, Mikheyev and Engvall together. If we do this, it means JT and Willy are together unless you put one of them on the fourth line...which isn't happening.

Bringing Holl in might be an example of paying the long game. If we are going to go deep we will need 7 or 8 dmen...playing Holl now was good to get him in and also good to let Liljegren see a game from the pressbox. I think it was good roster management and we still got the W

I think the highlighted above is the reason Nylander was put back with Tavares. It's more about that "3rd' line than the "2nd" line.

I don't like Holl, period, but, we won with him in there so I probably don't change anything for tomorrow in that sense... let's be honest though, he was god-awful.

Trotz is there for the taking in off-season. If Keefe is still our coach and we make no play for Trotz, whoever used the word nepotism last night for Dubas/Keefe is right.

In no way should Keefe be the coach of this roster if you can get Trotz.

Having Marner pk really messes up our lines especially if we get so many penalties. To bad Marner is sooo good on the pk.

Yes its what I said last night. Does the PK outweigh giving up all those 5v5 points or 5v5 possession ? Possession is also form of defence because puck not going to Swiss cheese goalie.

The answer is no. If we want a cup marner has to reduce pk time. If all we want is to sit online and discuss how versatile marner is then keep him on pk and choose message board praise over stanley cup.

We need marner running 5v5 and depth guys running the PK (they are capable without him) yet we have depth guys running 5v5 and marner running PK. Playoff Keefe strikes again.

Keefe & Dubas have spent years trying to be best buds with the players lol, there's zero accountability.
Need to bring in a no nonsense guy like Trotz to shape them up. Willie would be benched on a nightly basis.

Keefe should not be wasting prime years of our superstars as he learns on the job. He's been outcoached every single year he's been in the playoffs and his team plays like they're content to just grab that paycheck.

To coach this series properly would risk getting fired .. JT out of lineup for game 5 .. then Shanny instructs Dubie to let him go next day likely .. too many family interactions/contract at play here to do what is on teams best interest .. coaches who want NHL jobs rarely do da right thing .. you have to have f*ck you $$$ and don't care about coaching again .. Keefer is still a young guy trying to make his way

I mean I'd probably suggest first removing Holl for Lilly, adding Bunting back to the 1st line, moving Kerfoot down to 2LW, and replacing Spezza with either Simmonds, Clifford, or Robertson. Perhaps move Willy back to 3RW where he had success late in the season. No need to pull out JT from the lineup.

Trotz actually builds good atmosphere and is generally easy to approach. That doesn't mean that some is demanding or good leader. I actually think Keefe is demanding and tight. You have to always remember that you can control only handful of things and you have to build culture of trust. It's better approach from performance perspective, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't held people accountable.

No one really knows how Keefe coaches or how Trotz coaches.

I'll say this about Cooper, smug prick that he is: he's really good using the media to motivate his team and to make his team look like they're saints deserving better treatment than the opposing team.

Keefe is an amateur at P.R.

Trotz isn't a good fit for the way this roster is constructed. His systems stiffle offense and suffocate you defensively while relying on all 4 lines playing grind it out hockey.

You might as well move all of Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly if you bring in a coach like that.

That's why ge was the perfect fit for that Islanders roster, his team just aged very quickly on him.

If the Leafs get bounced maybe they can fire Keefe and hire Trotz.
So Dubas and Keefe set franchise records this year in their first full year as a tandem. Hard to fire any of them after that.

Interesting to hear a couple on air former players says he’s way to “chatty” during his pressers, he says too much. Interesting observation.

Trotz looks at his roster then decides how the team should play.

Do you believe Keefe was that crucial to the franchise record this season? It couldn't have been accomplished with another coach?
