Kind of confused.

Fewest Goals against/60 for current Leafs D since Holl came back from his benching in early Nov.:

5v5:
1. Brodie
2. Holl (on 42% ozone starts)
3. Sandin
4. Gio
5. Boosh
6. Lily
7. Muzzin
8. Rielly

One of the goals against MVPs this season no?

Hes been hot and cold though and Keefe went with the hot hand in Lily to start.

...also Holl has been a mainstay on an excellent PK first pairing whenever in the lineup hasnt he? Hes second jn both PK time and TOI/games playwd this year.

With Lily getting exposed a bit the last couple games though, not really a suprise to see Holl come in to stabilize what has been the weakest pairing on the team so far. Holl and Spezza also come in fresh and the team depth may play dividends here.

Not disputing that Holl is deserving of playoff minutes, but Lily’s xGF% was almost 60 percent in the first game, I believe. He had a bad game 2, but I don’t think it’s fair to say he’s been exposed.

Small sample size, but so far this guy is easily the worst playoff coach I've ever seen for the Leafs.

He adjusts to nothing, fixes nothing. His team has got and held a lead only once in 6 games and if it wasn't for one of the most miraculous comebacks in history their record would be 1-5.

His presence actively hurt the team tonight by overusing Jumbo, something that was called out way before it actually cost us the GWG.
Seems to be very tinker-happy st the moment. Lines were a mess last game.

He hasnt been that great defensively much of the series is the problem.

He can still work his way back intk rhe series of course, especially if Holl has a rough game.

I guarantee you Holl will cost us a minimum of 1 goal against in tonight's game .. I hope I am wrong but he just can't play a simple game of break da cycle, clear da net and high and hard up da glass .. he has size to do it he just thinks he is Bobby Orr of defense
Probably a hole burnt into the arena ceiling for the amount of times Holl stares up at it in disbelief of himself.

Stay away from McDick's not good for ya .. i cut it out 4-5 years ago and went from 6ft5 265 to 6ft5 215 which was only a few pounds over my playing weight

Liljegren had a good game 1 and a terrible game 2. I would probably rather bet on him to bounce back in game 3 than count on Holl to step in and have a good game, but I can't really fault Keefe either. Lots of people felt that Sandin had too much rope against Montreal despite making rookie mistakes, and Liljegren looked similarly outmatched.

Believing that Holl going in over Liljegren isn't even a legitimate option is just silly

i think the Sandin and Dermott memories are edged in Keefe's mind forever haha.

Holl is the best PK'er on the team. So I get why he;s drawing in, but I can get behind Boosh coming out instead of Liljegren.

You couldn't have Holl playing with Rielly though.
Brodie/Muzzin seem pretty solid, can't break that up.

Nobody said it's not a legitimate option so not sure what's silly.

Not thinking an option is necessary yet doesn't mean you don't think it's a legitimate option.

We didn't even get normal 5v5 flow yet. Liljegrens transition game is light years ahead of Holls.

Again, I’m not arguing that Liljegren didn’t have a poor showing in game two, but his metrics weren’t poor in game one. His overall metrics are bad because he was abysmal in game two. His xGF was 59 percent in game one.

Young player wasn't himself in a game we took dumb penalty after dumb penalty. How shocking. Literally no need to take him out, we know he's a rock when we're playing our game.

Marner wasted on PK where he has to play less 5v5 than third liners is playoff Keefe.

Need goals and marner is near bottom of 5v5 ice time. All for what too we gave up 3 on pk

Never adjusts. If pims out of hand preserve marner for 5v5 we have kampf Engvall mik kerfoot for pk

Not sure where you are getting that number (maybe all situations?)

5v5 xGF% for Liljegren:

Game 1: 48.57
Game 2: 26.49
For the series: 32.63 (Last on the Dcore)

Getting back to the main topic, looking at the run of play numbers under Keefe over the last 3 playoffs, here are the Leafs rankings:

All situations xGF%: 5th out of 25 teams
Shot differential: 4th out of 25 teams

The numbers say coaching has been great but much like the other 3 teams in the top ten of both stats (Oilers, Pens, Panthers), lack of clutch/depth/running into hot goalies have been issues.

The other 6 teams in both top ten? Lightning/Avs/Knights/Flames/Bruins/Canes.

Hoping the Leafs get a few bounces tonight in this tight series.

I wish Boston did us favors like sit/reduce use of McAvoy after he looked like AHL player in game 1. Avoid the Norris comeback in game 2 and we go to round 2.

I hear you, but Liljegren is not even close to what McAvoy was at that point. McAvoy was logging first d-pairing duties the moment he stepped into the NHL and was doing it comfortably.

It’s 5-on-5. Where are you pulling your xGF from?

Good timeout call last night. Perhaps the coach is maturing like the players.
