Hoping to see that when he’s called up. Sandin has looked WAY better ever since playing his natural side.

If Liljegren can step in and play like a true top four RHD defence, with him and Brodie it may actually solve our biggest need internally.

IMO he bridges first 4 weeks on the 2nd/3rd pairing with Gio, gets his legs, then moves up to P1 and Brodie moves down to play with Sandin on P2. P3 rotates through Gio, Holl, Mete, Benn, etc.

I dont see keefe going with 3 unknown pairings. IMO, Brodie will play with either Rielly or Gio

The leafs will have to acquire a defenseman this year. Unless Sandin takes a huge step it’s inevitable. I think we’ll see someone from bottom six moved out for a defenseman. Probably Ethan Bear

If Muzzin is healthy, it is a good D, otherwise, an upgrade on Holl at the deadline would be great.

I think people are going to start talking about Liljegren as a #2 this year, he can be that good.

Once Liljegren returns, who would Bear replace on the right side? Liljegren and Brodie are much better then him and he really isn’t an upgrade on Holl when you factor in that Holl kills penalties and we just lost our best penalty killing defenceman in Muzzin.

Bear is mobile and Liljegren killed penalties last year. So I assume he’ll get PK duties again this year.

It’s also about giving us flexibility. It’s always better to have 8-9 NHL capable dmen.

He'll likely start with Giordano with the 2nd/3rd pairings getting similar minutes.

And it shouldn't be too long until he gets paired with Rielly as their styles fit well together. Liljegren being solid defensively will allow Rielly to focus on his offense where he shines and Lily being a good skater will allow him to jump up offensively when necessary as the Rielly pairing will get more offensive minutes.

*Brodie will get a chance with bith Muzzin and Gio while Sandin/Holl will battle for the last spot (I think Sandin will have an advantage as all other dmen are capable of playing on the PK).

I really hope this happens but Keefe loses patience sooo fast on Sandin and Lily.

Yeah I have no interest in Bear whatsoever.
On a good team he just isn’t a top 6 Dman.

What waste assets on him and still potentially need to add another Dman down the line. And at that point you push him out of our top 6 and end up with the same problem the Canes have with him now. He is disgruntled about being outside of your top 6.

Most of the names we have discussed here the past weeks or months for an RHD are better fits like Murphy, Roy, or Mayfield.

Mayfield via trade and it very much can be put him with rielly reunite the Calgary top pair and put the kids together

Was reading some trash link suggesting that the leafs would entertain trading one of Sandin or Liljegren in a Chychrun trade. I’m okay with trading Sandin as I think we can find a similar replacement a lot easier. Chychrun while he fits the bill is often injured and i don’t know if anybody can say he is a really strong defender?

For me it's Gio simply by how great they meshed last year in the short sample size. I'm legit excited to see Liljegren back because the team badly needs a quick transition guy who can join the rush but also because he gets better every year so I'm hoping he's taken even another step this year, which I'm confident he will
