Wow.
That story brought a tear to my eye.

I think that belongs on the main topics page for every hockey fan to read about.

Great on Brock. I'd be damn proud of him if he was my son.

Way to go, Brock.

Before today, I looked at him only through a hockey lens, but there's obviously much, much more to him. So glad he's a Canuck.

Article in the Province today about his decision to stay another year in ND. His dad has Parkinson's and his mom is working 2 jobs to support the family. The family still values another year of education over turning pro to make money and start lending support. This kid has a great story and he has a ton of character.
Haven't read the Province article... but I feel that one versus two undergrad years of an uncompleted degree at the 180th-ranked university is a pretty negligible difference, especially for a student athlete. I have no issue with him staying another year in college, I just don't really expect it to do much for him outside of the hockey world.

1. You don't know what type of student Boeser is.
2. Finishing 2 years means it wont be difficult for him to finish his degree on the side during off seasons, etc.
3. What does UNDs academic ranking have anything to do with it, he obviously went there because of its hockey program but that doesn't mean he doesn't place a strong priority on learning.

Haha, I knew someone would take exception to that.

I suppose #2 has merit. I am just questioning the marginal utility of the extra year from a non-athletic standpoint, is all. It is just more pronounced in the case of a guy whose career path is obviously sports at this point, no matter what kind of student he is.
