I get needing to learn how to do it since he’s always been a starter. But not knowing it’s a thing?
Peterka/Benson - Thompson - Tuch/xxxx

Besides defense, we need to do something about our top 6, and we need to do it now. Cozens is inconsistent, he seems to be getting better, but then he has another bad game. Quinn doesn't even look like an NHL player right now. Maybe a trade, maybe give McLeod a stable role in the top 6, but then we don't have a 3C, or try Krebs/Kulich there. Either way, we need to do something about it.
I didn't see him mention that at all
Everything is clear about defense, what needs to be done there, but something also needs to be done with the attack. The very real dilemma is there’s no where for cozens or quinn to go. But I agree, they are sinking this offense.
And defense has some obvious moves to improve it, but those obvious moves have been there and ignored
Devil backups never needed that skill seeing they never played
I would say that trading one of Byram/Power could make sense, although I don't want to trade Power at all. No matter how the Byram - Dahlin pair works, it still won't look good on defense, imo. Power needs a stable and reliable partner, he doesn't even have to be expensive, you just need to be able to look.Really? Post starts talking about "Do modern NHL teams need two #1 puck moving defenseman?" and then literally only makes arguments about Power Play units. That comment you responded to was right on the mark.
This criticism of Power is so overblown, Fjordy is right that it's a roster construction issue. This starts at the top. The only reason trading Power might be good for us is that the haul would be good enough that it could make us better. The only reason the haul would be good enough is because his future potential is there, and those calling for his trade are not confident that the Sabres org can get him here. As soon as we trade him we all know he's going to work out, whether eternally baby-shit soft or not. Some competent organization is going to build around him in the right way. It doesn't matter that he's a 1OA, if removing a 21-year old defenseman from the roster is such a big concern, you definitely should have bigger concerns.

There are two options here, the first is the most obvious, it's to find a partner for Power in a trade right now.
The second is more difficult, but our defense will become more balanced, it's to trade one of Byram/Power+, where in the trade we will return a top 4 LD/RD who is good in defense + a top 6 forward. I doubt that Adams can handle the second option and I'm even afraid to trust him with it. But he need to resort to the first option.
Then you're lucky to be an eternal optimist, I'm not so much. But we can't know who will contribute in 5 years and who won't, we don't even know if this team will still exist in 5 years. We need to get to the playoffs, and it's Adams' fault that he couldn't prepare the team in the offseason and now we're not in the best position.Yea, I don't want to trade Power either, but your suggested return at the bottom is exactly right. That is what I meant by big haul.
If they could actually handle the second option, they probably would have been competent enough to not draft Power, or not trade for Byram in the first place into this current roster.
I'm an eternal optimist and I think this roster will only be getting better over the next 2-3 years. I am in no rush to move pieces that will offer significant contributions to the team in the next 5 years just to increase playoff chances for this season. I don't know if management feels the same way, but if they don't, I'd rather have new management in place that sees the same thing.
Under Ruff? Not accurate.

I'll try to get my point across again. I want our defense to be more balanced, like Dahlin with a more defensive partner in the first pair, Power with a more defensive partner in the second pair, for that we'll have to trade Byram and find two defensive partners for Dahlin and Power.
They have already a high % of cap spent on D and he is a surplus need.Byram’s ticket isn’t gonna be that big idk why this is the automatic assumption. Say they trade Sammy and Joker will that’s 8+ million back
Well, I think we should still make it to the playoffs, it’s about time.Yea, the only difference for me is I don't think we need to get to the playoffs this year. I think the organization has fumbled itself into enough young talent that we will get there next year, but I'm in no rush. But I also don't trust the management long term. I want that to change the most, more than any specific players.
Your point about the defense has been made before and I completely agree. IMO If we're going to make a move this year I would like to trade Bryam + prospects to get back some good pieces to balance out the roster.
Amazing insight on his part.

It's going to cost about 14 mil just to re-sign Peterka, Greenway, Mcleod, Quinn, NAK, Levi, and suffer the 3 mil bump in Skinner's buy-out penalty. They have already a high % of cap spent on D and he is a surplus need.
The forwards on the otherhand could use a top6 upgrade.
Also you have to fill those voids of Joker & Sammy with some vet signings.
They cannot go with ELCs especially considering how imbalanced they are on the backend.
