Aside from Jost, what other recruits is UND expecting
A bunch of guys who are more college role players than NHL prospects, for the most part. Mitchell Mattson from Mn HS is the only guy who might register here, draft eligible this year and maybe a 2nd-4th rounder. If he's picked on the higher end, he might come in. Lower, he'll probably go to the USHL. All that is just a guess.

Also, you guys have to realize that a lot of their depth players like Gardner and Gersich are freshmen, those guys are also expected to take a step up next year.

And some juniors like Poganski are going to take big steps up.

The team is still gonna be great. Especially if Boeser goes ham like he did this yea.r

Someone needs to rename our section of this website to "HFChicken Little".

I'm glad he's going back for a second year. UND is a fantastic place for him, so much better than the tire fire Benning has got going on for our NHL/AHL teams.

This is partly true,IMO.

There's not much point in trying to rush Boeser in into the NHL as we already have too many young players trying to find their way in the NHL and look how that turned out.Let our current crop of youngsters solidify their pro game for another year before throwing another 19 y/o into the mix.

However,a full season in Utica under Travis Green would probably be great for Boeser's development but ND is a very good program so it's not really a bad thing to go back for another year and probably better if TG isn't back next year in Utica.

Haven't checked the UND roster for the upcoming season....seem to be losing some key peices...do they really have a shot at going back-to-back in the Frozen Four?...Boeser may have to carry them next season.

UND only had 4 seniors. If early departures are light, they absolutely have a shot to go back-to-back. Team was very young this year. Caggiula is a big loss, but like I said, if there isn't too many early departures, team could do some damage without Boeser having to carry the team. Team strength is the defense, contrary to media reports.

UND could be really good next year too it just all depends on who stays and who goes. We lose 4 seniors including Caggiula (big loss) and then LaDue (LAK) should sign shortly and Stecher is likely to sign but will decide Wednesday. If Schmaltz comes back, we could have a loaded top line again. Also, we host the west regional in Fargo next season so that should only play into our favor to reach the Frozen Four again assuming we make the tournament.

The loss of Caggiula and Stetcher and Schmaltz will make the team worse regardless of who is coming in.

Jost is a top 15 prospect in this draft imo, should definitely help with the loss of Schmaltz.

Also, if Boeser is a future top 6 NHL'er then he should have no problem carrying a line in the NCAA next year as long as his linemates are at least half-decent.

If anything the loss of Caggiula and Schmaltz, poses a challenge for Boeser. I rather he gets tested and develop rather than going through the motions with the exact same circumstances.

Personally, I think he was ready to go pro. Oh well one more year.

Already been reported (believe it was Botch) that management were ok with Boeser going back for another year for leadership.

Clearly it will be his team next year.

Hopefully Jost can come in and they form instant chemistry.

Yeah but chemistry is more important than anything.

Id be somewhat surprised if Jost put up the same ppg as Schmaltz did in his first year. Larkin numbers basically.

Finally got around to watching the final last night... and what a great game for Boeser!
Dream game for him.. line dominating, 4 points, GWG, National championship!

He floats on the ice and picks his spots to jump in and support.
Virtanen plays a similar style but floats a little higher in the ozone than Boeser who's more in the slot/faceoff circles..

Impressed with his hands.. Loved his zone entry chip, pass back that led to the first goal. beauty little play that Melrose actually caught and mentioned.

He's smart... has a smart disruptive stick.. broke up a lot of plays in the defensive zone reading passes.

Only one thing not to like... his inability to pull away on the breakaway. But that was followed up by a decent protect of the puck, curl and perfect setup..

Look forward to seeing at the rookie camp this summer.. and then hopefully at full camp in 2017.

Sounds like Boeser will turn pro next year, hopefully he makes the jump straight to the NHL and becomes a top 6 player right away.

Tkachuk, Horvat, and Boeser are going to make a pretty good line
in a couple of years. Especially seeing as how both wingers can set up
goals as well as score them, and are very strong on the puck.

UND has a lot of freshmen entering into their 2nd season with UND.

I don't think it's an issue of them getting worse, especially with Johnson returning they still have a elite forward group and goaltending for the NCAA.

It's the back end that is likely in trouble. LaDue and Stecher leaving is huge, those 2 play like 22-25 minutes a game for UND. They need Poolman to step up big next year.

Personally, I see Poganski/Gardner taking a huge step forward next year. Both of these guys have NHL talent IMO. Gardner I really like, the guy to me has 3rd line center upside.
