Boeser and Demko have seen the **** that is here currently and likely don't want a part of it.

Personally I don't think Boeser has much to gain paying in NCAAs next season rather than in Utica.

Can already picture him regressing without his linemates this year and people freaking out.

Yep. Another bad day to be a Canucks fan :(

As connor sings in Winnipeg and one of the enemy teams (LA or chicago) preparing for another cup

We haven't lost this player, he just isn't coming sooner then next year, which was pretty much the story since the start.

He isn't a UFA next year either.

People need to calm down.

Or he signs and plays in Utica and puts up underwhelming stats and everyone calls him a bust.

Gaudreau could've signed and played in the AHL after his sophomore year but returned and dominated before jumping straight into the NHL and a 60 point rookie season.

I'm totally fine with him returning, especially if it means he's going straight into a top 6 role after next season.

It's certainly possible that his numbers regress a bit. It happened to both Parise and Schwartz in their sophomore years after phenomenal freshman seasons and they turned out OK.

Absolutely 100% the right move !

I always advocate for our top Prospects to be in a situation where they can get tons of ice time and develop while being "the man " playing PP1 PK1 etc.

Boeser is in a fantastic system and culture at UND. What good would it do him in UTICA next year playing half the role.

I also think Boeser has a long ways to go with his skating and first few strides. I hope he gets that straightened out in College. If he was to skate like that in the AHL he would get exposed and possibly lose confidence. ALA Cole Cassels. The AHL is a huge step and the NHL is an even massive step up. Improve it at College where he can get away w. It.

Boeser has already confirmed he will attend Canucks prospect camp this summer.

I wasn't going to be all-in on Brock till i saw him vs pro speed... That will have to wait 16-17 months now.
BUT if he actually improves on the season he had this yr as a sophomore... I'll be VERY excited!

Not the end of the world, but I was really hoping to see him move up a level after the season he had. I'm not really that concerned about the free agency risk. It would be crazy for him to play out his entire college eligibility after the season he's had. He'll want to turn pro sooner than that (you'd hope).

Not worried that he wants to stay for his soph year, it is a great program and he will have a legit linemate in Jost, Demko on the other hand could be approaching that Vesey area....and that deserves our concern.

Only thing is skating which like Bo could pick it up in the offseason with good training. 100% is game ready

There is a big difference between Bo's pre-NHL skating and boesers, Bo was slow(ish) but the technique was fine, watch some of boesers game tape and you'll see he definitely needs improvements and adjustments on how hes skating not just his speed and thats a harder fix then what Bo had to do.

Couldn't disagree more.

I think the negativity of the situation here has been completely overblown.

Secondly, I also think that people really underestimate the positives that college hockey and college life can garner. Even if there wasn't the new challenge of the rest of that top line and the top defencemen likely leaving and BB having to be the guy and to mentor younger players, there are still a lot of life skills to be learned from living away from home and having to balance school and sport. It makes for a more well rounded person - think how mature college guys like Bieksa and Schneider seem in comparison to the average NHL'er

As for Demko, that draw of finishing the final year and getting the degree over and done with has to be a big one because even for a top end prospect making a career in the NHL is never a certainty. With that in mind having a degree to fall back on makes a lot of sense. That being said, I do hope Demko signs now since he could always go back in the summer and get the degree done a la Schneider.

The only thing I agree with is that there will be uproar in Vancouver if Boeser doesn't have as good a year next year. The bar has been set very high.

Boeser willl likely have a lower production year, no need to panic though as it happens usually to a lot of high end prospects in their sophomore year. Look at Toews and Parise
