While Cody Hodgson accumulated a lot of points in the WJC,

Tavares, Subban, hell even Ryan Ellis were much more dynamic.

Hodgson was also more of a perimeter player.

If Cody worked hard, maybe he could have been a Bryan Little type C (Cody was the #1 C in Buffalo for a bit there).

IMO Boeser's bigger frame and better shot makes him a much better bet to translate.

He simply can get to areas of the ice Cody can't.

What does dynamic or perimeter play in the tourney (very arguable) have to do with classifying a great season? Huh? We aren't comparing Hodgson and Boeser as players or their ability to succeed, just the strength of their draft+1 years. It stems from a comment someone made that this season by Boeser is the best draft+1 season from our prospects since Hodgson's, which is a very fair statement.

After that WJC, i don't remember anyone saying he was leeching off that top line or their top defenders. People were saying Hodgson was the MVP or at least a very, very close 2nd to Tavares that tourney.

Hodgson was great in the WJHCs. His game didn't translate to the NHL, in my opinion because of entitlement and lack of work ethic, but give credit where credit is due.

And that was the problem with him, entitled to give him the keys to be the man. His work ethic was meh at best

Lack of NHL skating speed was his biggest issue. If he had good wheels he would have made it, even with his work effort.

He deserves credit, but to me Boeser putting up 1.42 ppg in NCAA is more impressive than Cody's draft +1 season.
He's also the youngest of the CBS line.

Boeser also finished strong, as the intensity of the games picked up, his ppg actually increased.

Cody had really short legs. I commented that really early after we drafted him.

His built certainly didn't help his skating.

If Boeser were to stay in college, imagine..

UND will be the odds-on favorites to repeat as National Champions with the addition of Jost.

Boeser could possibly end his college career with 2 National titles, and maybe even a Hobey Baker award to his name.

Still don't know how Connor didn't win the Hobey, but if he's still in school next year I think he wins it over Boeser.

Still very excited about Brock.
Kid looks like he has first line potential.

Is Connor really that much better than Boeser now? ND plays in a much tougher division, certainly, that factors into the obvious difference in statistics. Boeser also has big game experience now, and a championship. In a redraft I don't think Connor is a slamdunk to be drafted ahead of BB. cannot wait to see him with Jost.

I've watch a total of 1 game from Connor and came away super impressed.

The guy is so explosive it's nuts. His speed is absolutely game changing. The way he played reminded me so much of McDavid in the way he could "wow" you with his speed and skill. Of course he doesn't have the elite playmaking/vision that McDavid has, and the ability to see like 5 plays into the future. I can totally see how he projects to be a top line player and he definitely has more star potential then Boeser IMO. Just because of that insane speed.

Pretty sure his back injury was the biggest issue. Look Boeser has been great so far but do you know what makes him really different from Cody, Schroedr or even Virtanen? The lack of a game changing injury. I hope it never happens but serious injuries in the early stages of a players career can have a long lasting impact. Boeser is not the best skater, not saying he's bad, but how do you think he looks if he suffers a very bad knee injury?

I've been working on the highlights but I ran into some unexpected problems. unfortunately my hard drive died on me (fell during an earthquake, I live in Alaska so we get them constantly).

I am about halfway finished editing the clips together. Depending how much I can get done tonight I might be able to finish it and I'll release them tomorrow.

So should we be concerned about Boeser possibly opting for UFA instead of signing with us after his senior year?

Be worried that Boeser stays in college for 3 more years?

I highly doubt he would do that. He's already dominated in his freshman year I wouldn't even imagine what he'd do in 3 years.

He's too good to stay in college for that long.

When do you think he'd sign with us? After next season?

Better season statistically then larkin.

That should tell you something. Also, the NCAA and ESPN does a really **** job at making the replays available online.

It makes it so much harder to mine for clips.

Even TSN does a really **** job. Their website is made to appeal to a mobile audience by having this weird minimalist design. It makes it so much harder to find information.

The question is, does Bessy want to turn pro?

Before this game I know he wanted to return to UND because he loves the town and school. I am not sure what winning a national championship will do to his decision though.

I have been following UND for 31 years and the last time I remember a player with so much high end talent and so much compete level was when Parise was here.

I am not saying he is a player like Parise but they both had so much high end skill and both just gave it their all on every shift. It was a privilege to watch both.
