I wasn’t proposing Spurgeon for Kupari, I was simply wondering if he was available and if you guys would have interest in Spurgeon.

Kupari for sure will not be available . We have high hopes for the kid to becoming some sort of Aho lite player . He’s the most exciting prospect we have to look forward too since probably Doughty . With Vilardi’s injuries and all. I believe Kupari game will translate well to the modern NHL . Time will tell.

Spurgeon i would definitely be interested in if he has speed but not sure Kings management will be interested in him. They are looking to get younger and we have some fine young dmen in the system coming up who should be ready in next 2-3 years . And I’m sure he will be getting a raise over his current salary.

Exactly. And effort.

They have a thousand scoring wingers already without Panarin. The Panthers need to improve their D, more than add two Russian wingers this summer.

Why is McKeown there?

But yeah, DL was still trying to win in his last years here, especially in 15-16, but even 16-17, and none of those 3 guys were doing much of anything at the NHL level in those 2 years. I suppose DL should've been fired after 14-15. Might've saved us from DL trying to outsmart himself. Not that Robitaille and Blake wouldn't have continued trying to win(and messing up), but so far Blake hasn't been overly clever. He hasn't done a Bishop type trade, giving away an asset for no reason. Even in a year where the Kings were sort of competitive, all he did was trade a backup that wasn't coming back.

I know he hasn’t made the big club but neither has Bean and to an extent Fluery has been buried... lots of defensive talent on the Hurricanes but he’d be better than Roy, Walker, LaDue.. the guy plays a steady, responsible game although his offense never translated... and he’d be on a ELC

McKeown would be in the NHL for most organizations. Certainly for the Kings. He's just buried in Carolina's extremely deep defensive group.

From 31 Thoughts, on the potential of the Kings hiring Jay Woodcroft as one of Todd McLellan's assistants.
20. Josh Currie scored at 13:02 of the second overtime on Saturday to give AHL Bakersfield a 3-2 win over San Diego, keeping the Condors alive, trailing the Gulls 3-2 in their second-round series. Another of Holland’s early decisions will be Bakersfield coach Jay Woodcroft’s future. Woodcroft did an excellent job with the team and its prospects, but the expectation is Todd McLellan will want his former Oilers assistant to re-join him with the Kings. Woodcroft built a new identity for himself, but where does he see a better future?

That's poor GMing by Waddell then. An NHL level d-man wasting time in the AHL, on a team with young NHL d-men locked up for years. Now McKeown is 23, and no longer on his ELC after this year. Seems like they could've used some more offense, but let's rely on Warren Foegele instead.

Same reaso why Fox wasnt going to sign there, Bean is a really good prospect and he wont see the ice until he gets traded or someone gets an injury..
I'd gladly take him back or Bean for that matter...lol

I don't think Fox was signing there no matter what.

meh, just means McKeown's next deal will not be as large. Non-issue and a good problem to have if you are Carolina. I am shocked Necas was not used more though
