I really feel like Wagner, Amadio, Kempe and Grundstrom are all going to be good solid NHLers. They're all hitting prime ages, have some NHL experience under their belt, and should be hungry to establish themselves. I think they're primed and ready to come into their own.

I think Prokhorkin will be good.

I think Kopitar, Brown, and Kovalchuk can all still produce.

Toffoli is in a contract year, and I think Carter can still contribute.

Mclellan is an upgrade over Stevens and that other coach we had.

That's the optimistic case. Of course a very reasonable pessimistic case can be made as well.

I could see Brodz signing a one year deal with someone and seeing if he can make it as an NHL regular and if not heading over to the KHL a year from now (assuming he wants to make good $$ playing). He will be 26 this season, this is probably his last chance to stick in the NHL.

I kind of agree. If a few players have bounce back years I could see us hanging around the wild card race till the trade deadline.
My only real expectation for next year is that this team will be more entertaining and more competitive. I'm perfectly ok with another top 5 pick next year and losing 2-3 or 4-5 most games. I just don't want them to fall behind 0-2 every 1st period and be lulled to sleep.

Anyone else see that Bobs put his Columbus condo up for sale.... Jack Campbell for a 2nd??
I definitely think Blake should offer Campbell and gauge his value. It might never be higher.
Can platoon Quick and Petersen next year and transition Petersen into the full time starter over a few seasons if he performs.

Might as well, our defensive system is a boon for goalies. Even though we've drafted 3 goalies the last 2 classes, Spencer Knight at #33 looks really tempting

They're not really that team anymore. Haven't been for a while either. 17-18 included. Not that they really ever had a defensive system. Sutter always said, if you're actually playing defense, you're doing it wrong. Presumably, the further they get from Lombardi, the less we'll see of that older school 11-12 Kings.

Right. If you're playing most of your time in your own end, you're not scoring goals and you're likely being scored on, worn down, taking penalties, etc. The problem the Kings always had was they were good at keeping possession but not particularly good at doing anything with it. lol

How could we pass on him? He'd be the BPA. It's ok to go against the grain when value presents itself.

Some people think because he poop out goalies likes a golden goose we can afford to wait on goalies...
Spencer Knight has all teh tols to be a taller Jon Quick... add Bill Ranford to the equation and I wouldnt mind one bit

the system is prefectly fine, what we lack is the talent..

If Florida signs Panarin, I wonder if they’d be interested in acquiring Kovalchuk?

At this time we'd be lucky to get a Dodger Dog for any of our players... we need to let this paly out and hope they regain their value or some value

EDIT: Great... now i want a Dodger dog:ha:

Snippet:
“I just thought, from start to finish, he was our best defenseman, consistency-wise, this year. I thought he took a big step this year in elevating his game. He’s still got a lot more to go. He’s got a high ceiling. It was good for us because he became more of a leader back there with the way he played.”

Mikey Anderson had a career-high six goals, 27 points and plus-minus rating of plus 22 in 40 games. Starting from March 1, his 14 points led the NCAA.

I was gonna joke that Columbus doesn't have a 2nd rounder until like 2050 after they splurged at the deadline, but they don't have a 2nd until 2022. Their GM was the old St. Louis head amateur scout between 2002-2010, so maybe he still values Jake Allen? St. Louis might be happy enough to free up the cap space at this point.

Kings defense is garbage. And that's putting it lightly.

No kidding. We have better offensive prospects than we do defensive prospects.

Anderson is going be an NHL player. Hopefully Durzi as well. Clague is a probably. Maybe Phillips? No one else screams lock... or even really that promising.

Vilardi, Kupari, JAD, Thomas, Grundstrom, and Wagner are all pretty promising forwards.

Erik Cernak, Colin Miller, Roland McKeown maybe could have helped a little... not saying they’re amazing but those guys provide unique individual attributes that would have really helped this club... physicality, scoring and reliability

My uncle had a Volare, and it was always breaking down.

Exactly. And effort.

They have a thousand scoring wingers already without Panarin. The Panthers need to improve their D, more than add two Russian wingers this summer.

Why is McKeown there?

But yeah, DL was still trying to win in his last years here, especially in 15-16, but even 16-17, and none of those 3 guys were doing much of anything at the NHL level in those 2 years. I suppose DL should've been fired after 14-15. Might've saved us from DL trying to outsmart himself. Not that Robitaille and Blake wouldn't have continued trying to win(and messing up), but so far Blake hasn't been overly clever. He hasn't done a Bishop type trade, giving away an asset for no reason. Even in a year where the Kings were sort of competitive, all he did was trade a backup that wasn't coming back.

Minnesota Wild Fan here. I’m wondering how attached you guys are to Kupari and if you would have any interest in Spurgeon. Not sure if you guys are rebuilding or trying to compete next year.

UFA Rental who'll be 30 next season for one of our top prospects?

No thanks.
