I guess it would just make him the new whipping boy so Forbort would be happy.Yep, but he’s not dumb.

Not sure why something has to give. That's 8 d-men competing for 7 spots. I believe Walker and Roy can pass thru waivers so they send one down to Ontario. If they both outplay Ladue, just waive him. Ontario should have a really good d-core next season.
That's how I look at it. Use the 2 1sts this year and add to an already deep prospect pool/roster and then add Marner and really go for itWith two firsts in their possession this year, including the fourth pick, they certainly could afford to give up their next four picks for an elite forward.
Imagine adding Marner to go with MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, plus whoever else they draft, along with Makar and Barrie, holy hell that’s a stacked team.
Maybe the Kings can pry one of those players for Paul LaDue...
This year it is somewhat manageable if they do that, but will they? I think he can help the kids transitioning into the NHL but what if Clague or another kid needs to get his shot, will they have room for them? There is already a log jam at D in the organization without even adding other D prospects that need AHL seasoning and NHL experience. Something has to give before camp.
Doughty
Forbort
Martinez
Roy
Phaneuf
Walker
Ladue
MacDermid

Clague
Anderson
Phillips
Durzi
Strand
There's a lot of names above the line, but not a lot of talent. If Clague or another kid really needs a shot, it won't be that hard to make room.

Durzi Phillips could be our Martinez Greene equivalent during our 24/25 return to the playoffs season.
#TankforLaffy#GKGDrew Doughty is really going ot end up next to Olli Maatta isn't he
Toronto has 8.75M in cap space with 17 players under contract and they need to sign these RFA's:
Marner (22yo / 26g 68a 94pts)
Kapanen (22yo / 20g 24a 44pts)
Johnsson (24yo /20g 23a 44pts)
According to McKenzie Marner wants Matthew's money (11.6M).
16M to re-sign those 3 players? Maybe more. And that'd still only give them a 20-man roster.
They'll probably have to move two players with significant contracts to make this work. Marleau (1yr/6.25M) has an NMC and isn't eligible for buyout savings. I'm sure they can find someone to take on Horton (1yr/5.3M) but in exchange for what?
There's other options like Nylander (5yrs/6.96M) or Kadri (3yrs/4.5M, M-NTC), but I doubt they want to move either of them.
According to CapFriendly it does.Horton is on LTIR, iirc, so salary don't count against their cap
They likely would need to move 3/4 of the players mentioned to reatin the ability and flexibility after resigning Marner, Kapanen and Johnsson...
They'll need to give up a 2020 1st to give themselves of Marleau or Horton
Nylander can net them a Werenski from Columbus or Pesce/Hamilton from Carolina
Kadri can net them picsk to move the older guys but they'll liely want either a young Dman or M6 forward..
Have you even watched Pesce play in the playoffs? It would take Marner to get him. They guy is untouchable from Carolina's point of view.
Yes I have and no, hes nowhere near close to being worth Marner, dont be silly!
Nylander for Pesce is about an even trade and makes Carolina even more dangerous, and thats what its about taking that last step towards NHL glory...
That pairing has been Slavin's doing.. Pesce has been making some pretty bad mistakes that Slavin has covered for because he's that good.. That's not to say Pesce is trash but his value is Nylander, as for his contract, well thats Amart and Muzzin all over again... "IF" Carolina loses, it'll be because of their offense and it will be addressed in the offseason with everybody on that defense not named Slavin available.. They still have Bean and Fleury and McKeown and more ... They turn out defensemen like we turn out goaliesWe will have to disagree. Carolina has won 2 playoff rounds based mostly on the play of their top 4 D, and Hamilton has made some mistakes. The pairing of Slavin and Pesce is carrying this team. Carolina would be nuts to trade Pesce for Nylander as you suggest. If you add in positional value and attractiveness of contract, it becomes even more lopsided.
They mentioned on Spittin Chicklets that Heatley lives in LA.
It is a very good problem to have... A lot of our kids should be on the Reign roster Vilardi included for conditioning if healthy enough... our pipeline could be/turn into exactly what we need right now
Carl Grundstrom - Gabriel Vilardi - Rasmus Kupari(is he coming over?)
Mikey Eyssimont - Jaret A. Dolan - Matt Luff
Blake Lizzote - Drake Rymsha - Sheldon Rempal
Daniel Brickley - Mikey Anderson
Kale Clague - Austin Strand
Markus Phillips - Sean Durzi
all the bolded could be NHL ready this season or at minimum get in a few games
Blake said at the TM presser that Kupari was coming over this season. So if does not make the
Kings, will play with the Reign.
I think Grundstrom is a lock to make team and be a fixture. Out of the rest, I think 1 of Clague / Anderson / Brickley makes the team. I hope they give each 1 game paired with DD in preseason games, to see how they look with him. I think with a good camp and preseason games, JAD makes the team. Luff is still a bit of a mystery...has good tools and can score. Just hope he comes to camp hungry and ready...and has a good Summer training. Lizotte could surprise. Veterans better come to camp ready. No more entitlement.
