I'm pretty sure all of you are missing Nate Thompson the most.
During the last broadcast Jim Fox still talked up that big changes will occur during the summer, and that all the games from here on out is pretty much an audition for many players to make an impression and determine whether or not they'll be back next season.
During intermission they also ran the latest episode of Black & White, which placed a heavy emphasis on the future.
Black & White: Recreating the Kings
I'd say that's a pretty telling quote about where Rob Blake stands with this team. He's clearly not pleased with these players.

A more direct link to the Rob Blake interview that aired during the last game.
The team that opens up the 2019-20 season is likely going to be significantly different than the opening night roster from this season.
Four names from that lineup have already been dealt (Pearson, Muzzin, Thompson, Fantenberg), and there will be a few more who will be gone.

...and the only decent return was on Muzzin. Now Blake wants to hold a going out of business sale. Expect returns to be low.
Honest question, anyone feel now after watching that....that they know what path the Kings are going to go down and what identity they want to establish?

No, no, no I've been consistently told Blake and Lucas are first class maroons who have both business near this team.let alone hockey. That all they care about is beach volleyball etc
Clearly the people who are actually around the team have no fricken idea of how wrong they are
My notes on the video, focused on statements by BLuc
- Hard trading veterans
- Not sure the group is capable of winning the cup
- Been focused on keeping picks
- Gave the cup core another shot at the cup
- Now need to focus on how to improve via trade, draft, FA
- New core brought in during past 1.5 yrs (video of Wagner shown)
- Prospect pool is being rebuilt for puck pursuit and pace
- Prospects will need to challenge long time vets for roster spots
- Will take patience to reach next level
My take was that they will retool around prospects and existing vets, with no specifics. They didn’t address cap flexibility, but didn’t expect that in a PR piece.
My bottom line issue with these guys, specifically Blake, is a return to the DT era. Lip service, mediocrity, penny pinching and a steady parade of hires from the alumni.
Was surprised Luc said something along the lines of ... 'we knew when Blake took over 18 months ago that it was important to get as many draft picks as possible' I thought we were supposed to be contenders then?

Don't get me wrong, the return on what they sold is fine, because it is all they could get. Blake just has very little of value to sell. The return on Fantenberg was fine. He's UFA at seasons end and Blake got a 4th (could be a 3rd, though unlikely). They could always bring him back in the summer if the interest is mutual.
I'm not sure what more we could have expected out of the Pearson deal. They ended up fetching a few picks for pending UFA Hagelin, again, not sure how much more we should of expected.
The Bear Jew, meh, he's JAG. Could of traded him for a pimento cheese sandwich straight from Augusta National for all I care.
They aren't mutually exclusive, you can be contenders and give a group a shot...and not trade draft picks etc....
Wait wasnt it last season they were trotting out the idea that the Kings were contenders and then they signed an over 35 year old Kovalchuk this offseason? Now they are finally realizing this team isnt a cup contender? Should've realized that awhile back since Blake has been asst. GM long enough before taking over for Lombardi that the core was stale. That's my biggest issue. We all knew who they were and what needed to be done.
As far as alumni hires I dont care. Every team in the league does it.
He never just said keep all of our picks though. I think if this team was anywhere near contending we would have been malting draft picks again.
No, they said acquire as many draft picks as possible.....which again.....is not mutually exclusive....
