I agree i think they would worry he would take over there jobs. Im curious your "choice for coach" if u have one that is
I haven't given a significant amount of thought as to who the next coach should be for the Kings, mostly because I assumed Sturm would be taking over.

I would be interested in reading your thoughts on the issue.

Everyone should plan to drink a lot this offseason

As stated in post 26 I am leaning towards Mike Stothers. He knows all our young players strengths and weakness from being in the ahl with them. I think it would give the younger players some confidence knowing there coach knows how to use them in the best situations. Players in particular im thinking LaDue Brodzinski and wagner

I'm on board with a new voice and a coach who is blunt with the players and can bring some energy and life behind the bench. Go the Jon Cooper like route and bring in a coach who has had success in getting the most out of his players at every level. The name that makes the most sense (if he so desires to take on this mess), would be Sheldon Keefe.

These videos offer a glimpse into his thought process and how he communicates.

Good call Zig

I keep hearing from players that go to La (Hagelin-example) that LA has a great group of guys.

Kings did have a culture of winning and attitude. Losing Williams, Greene, Mitchell, Stoll, and maybe the guy who doesn’t get enough credit -Mike Richards, has taken its toll.

This core has now gone through Murray, Sutter, Stevens, and Dejhasbeen.

Maybe the core needs to move on too. (Kopitar, Brown) Give Clifford the “C”.

A rebuild is gonna take a long time. This talk of two year turn around is a joke. Maybe if you get Hughes and somehow Vilardi comes back to life you can do it.

It’s late but I’m glad Blake has begun the process. Got ten picks and will look to deal at the draft.

Forever grateful for the Cups era but I’m ready for the next era. The core needs to step up or move on. Another year like this can’t be tolerated from them.

One wonders how many "good" coaches would actually want the job in LA given the current and foreseeable situation.

Also on board for Keefe. I have always liked Ralph Kruger, who I feel did great with Team Europe and didn't get a fair shake in Edmonton. But I don't think he is coming across the pond with his current job.

Don't think the big names like Quenneville or Vingnuealt will come to this team.

I think there are a bunch of us here who would love to see Keefe as the next HC.

I’m sure he will be a popular name in the off-season for those organizations that are looking for a head coach.

I also like Rikard Gronborg who coaches the Swedish men’s national team. I think he’s leaving them after the upcoming World Championship.

Stothers would be fun for post game quotes but I’d prefer a complete douching of the entire coaching staff including the AHL. I know people like Sturm but I don’t know. Whats he currently in charge of? Whatever it is, it sucks too.

EDIT - Wow you can’t say douche Ok, I should have said “I’d prefer a complete vaginal cleansing of the entire coaching staff”. Sorry, I didn’t know we couldn’t say douche.

Also gives him time to re-establish some value--either for our club or for trade--as well in what's likely to be a 'meh' season.

Which is why I don't know how I feel about Sturm. He seems to be a bit of an innovator and a fresh mind--which I love. He's also close in age and has played with some of these guys. But I think I'll risk the tradeoff. Knowing how happy/excited people were to play for him in other gigs.

Some people never do. Erik Karlsson even still has a bit of a hitch in his step though I think his was worse. But what's strange about Carter's is he came back and performed like nothing ever happened (until the playoffs) the same year...it's only this year he tanked.
That’s why I’m really curious about this teams play.. how TF does a whole team fall off?? There has to be some big divide behind the scenes..

Dan Bylsma, Todd McLellan, or Vignault would be my guess given this managements preference for experience. They signed WD because he had nhl experience instead of just putting Stothers there, so I don’t think Stothers gets the job.

I don’t know about Sturm, seems like he would get run over by this core the same way WD has been. Keefe is interesting but I’m not sure Blake and Luc want to go with someone inexperienced and hang their jobs on it.

Not many trades involving old guys with term left leading up to, at, or after the draft. That's year, after year, after year, after year. You can keep clicking through the other years too, you won't find many more examples, if any. This roster altering summer that's being hoped for, or hyped up, or whatever, people might need to slow down.
