Former King Tom Laidlaw on upcoming season of Survivor.

Just thought that was interesting. Here is an interview with him in the Athletic if you happen to be a subscriber.

Q&A: How former NHLer Tom Laidlaw landed a spot on...

small snippit:

"It started probably I guess two years ago. Mr. Jerry Bruckheimer, who owns – I don’t know if that’s the right word – Big Brother, The Amazing Race, and Survivor, he’s a huge hockey fan so he reached out to the NHL and asked about getting a couple of former players on The Amazing Race. And so the NHL reached out to the Rangers and I’m here locally and I’m into fitness and have this company called the True Grit Life and all this stuff so they reached out to me thinking I’d be the perfect guy to do it. The problem at that point though was that they wanted to have a former teammate of mine that I was friends with that would go out but most of the guys my age, they’re all fat and out of shape and smoking cigarettes (laughs)."

Bring on training camp already!

The State of the Franchise is available to listen to in podcast form, thanks to @All The Kings Men .

To be clear this is a playlist. Clicking on the first track will only get you the intro with Rob & Luc. Considering posting them all as independent tracks later to avoid confusion. Looks like more than twice as many people heard the intro and nothing else.

Man, Jonathan Quick's "knight" mask is absolutely iconic. Remember the 2014 USA one even had the knight stuff on it (and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier reference). It's gotta be up there with the Brodeur logo mask as an alltimer.

One more thing to keep in mind is some of these prospects whether they develop to their potential or not will be used as trade bait . Thomas is one I believe will be used for a need elsewhere . If the rookie camp is any indication of where players are at with line placement I’d say Fagemo is 1-2 years away from the NHL and might eventually take over for Toffoli as a top 6 RW.

I hope not. Burn the whole thing down. I really hope the Kings roll out this lineup in three years:

Kaliyev - Turcotte - Kupari
Thomas - Vilardi - Fagemo
Wagner - Anderson-Dolan - Grundstrom
Sodergran - Amadio - Luff

We need a top tier right-handed defenseman though. Can we trade for one?

Bjornfot - Doughty
Anderson - xxx
Clague - Durzi

Funny watching their guys get their VO2 assessment on the bike.

And it looks like they're not even in a gym and are doing all of their training inside a hotel banquet hall. A few years later, the Kings would hold their training camps in Lake Arrowhead, until Iceoplex opened up in the mid-90s.

Makes one wonder if the all-time great old timers would have the level of fitness required to compete today. Of course back then many of them had to have jobs in the off season.
