Yup. Not sure why so many are so down on Clifford. He busts his ass, sticks up for his teammates (albeit poorly, but it's the thought that counts), doesn't cost much, and his teammates love him.

I don't think anyone was particularly down on Clifford, it's just that for a while what he brought wasn't worth his cap hit. If he keeps playing similar last season, he's earning his money and then some.

Lets not forget Clifford has never really been healthy last few years. I personally think he has always earned his money. He does everything the team asks of him and more.

Plenty of people have shit all over Clifford the last 3-4 years. His career earnings in his 10 year career are approximately 12.2 million, barely over a million a season. I don't see how anyone could complain about his money or cap hit.

I could see the Kings locking up Clifford with an extension. He was specifically brought up at the State of the Franchise as a player they hope younger prospects pattern themselves after, in terms of having the right attitude and determination to get better. He'll be a mentor to the younger echelon and is the perfect role player in your bottom six.

Trevor Lewis I'm indifferent on. He was great in 2017-18, but last season was a big stinker. Lewis turns 33 in January and he needs to prove that he can still contribute in a bottom six role.

We already got another Trevor Lewis. His name is Alex Iafallo.

He missed half the season with a broken foot...

How deprived are we of color in our jerseys that the little splash of gold on Quick's helmet that could be a stain for all we know is exciting

I hope he does something cool for the outdoor game.Quick wearing a replica Hrudy mask with Hollywood across would look awesome! Even bust out the blue bandana.

Clifford is going no where. If u listened to state of the kings address you would have heard Blake praise Clifford and say they wished all kings would be like him. They saw that he worked hard and got better with each game and had a career year. The best you can hope for is he would agree to be traded at deadline and resign with the kings in off season. Even then I would be shocked if happened. I doubt Clifford plays any where else. He bleeds la colors and he will be with this team till he retires.

Thats all great and dandy but as I commented on another post, with Amadio, JAD, Grundy, Luff, and Possibly Turcotte ready to play in the NHL who is getting held back or released so we can accomodate Cliffy? If we traded Captain's Blake and Norstrom and stripped Brownie of his C... Then surely Kyle Clifford can be moved on from.. There is no space on this team for a guy with multiple concussions, nearing 30 as a UFA and who isnt likely better than anyone i mentioned as the team moves forward..

Did u listen to the state of the king address and heard what Blake said? He has shown his worth to the kings in his grit and determination to get better every game. The season he just completed is what this team needs more of no less. He battled back from them concusions and had his best year in his career. He showed he wasn't entitled to anything and worked to keep his job. Unlike most of the vets he earned his money. The players u mention well have talent haven't proven anything and most should be in the ahl till they earn there way on the team. Turrotte is at least 3 season away from even being in a conversation for the team He is still in college ffs let him finish that then play a year in the ahl before he makes this team. Jad and Grundy both don't have to clear waivers to play in the ahl so back they go. I am not positive on Luff but pretty sure he can go back as well. I have Amadio making it as a 4 c There is no one in our system that is ready to take over for Clifford imo and until someone shows they can hes my 4 lw. I will give you credit at least your willing to stick to your dislike of Clifford unlike others that seemingly have changed there opinions thou.

Luff is the only guy you listed who *might* actually play on the 4th line. If any of those other guys are 4th liners, the team is screwed anyway.

How so, are we magically going to move Kopitar, Carter, Brown, Kovalchuk, Iafallo, Kempe???
That doesnt include Prokhorkin who I think is going put up really nice numbers...
So the kids will earn their place on the botom 6 and likley move throughout the future lineup

Clifford didn't make a whole lot of money since he came in so young, but he does pretty good now for his role. I think that some were under the impression that this team could make a run when it really couldn't, and since so many of the contracts are completely unmovable, a 4th line guy with a 1.6M cap hit is going to get complained about. Especially when he's putting up 10-12 points per season, regardless of the reason.

That had more to do with the other contracts than Kyle's. If some of those contracts hadn't turned out to be so burdensome I doubt many would have issues paying Clifford 1.6. Since there wasn't much wiggle room, he was one of the few movable pieces, and I think even Kyle would say he wasn't at his best from 16-18. I hope he continues what he did last year because he was fantastic.

I don't think the NHLPA would agree to that. While lowering the age would be great for them, but they wouldn't like losing the years. Maybe if they could get some guarentee money on the line.

Two sides to this argument, though. On one hand, yes, shorter contracts puts players at risk of losing money if they suffer a catastrophic career ending injury. On the other hand, shorter contracts also means more opportunities to hit UFA and cash in big on the open market.

Frankly, if I'm the BOG, I come to the board demanding non-guaranteed contracts. The PA will of course reject. BOG locks them out. Lose half a season. Settle in the middle for lower contract lengths and younger UFA age.

Only way to fix this stupid ass hard salary cap system, which I've come to really loathe. At the very least, every team should get one CBO every season.
