I don't see M Kempe playing 2 rw Move carter up to 1 rw and move tt down to 2nd wing M Kempe 13th forward That might work to start the year

Yeah. I don't see the Kings having a real 2nd line. More like two 3rd lines. But I went with an all swede/Kempe brothers for chemistry. And the two russians with Iaffalo creating time and space for Kovy.

One of Carter/Kovalchuk/Toffoli needs to be moved to open up the roster for younger players IMO.

Carter and Kovy are unmovable IMO unless the Kings sweeten the pot. But I would rather give Kovy his unconditional release than try to trade him since he has a full NMC. Carter can be waived and assigned to Ontario if unclaimed. If he refuses an AHL assignment and retires, the Kings save on his salary but will still take cap hits on his recapture till 2022.

Lewis should be scratched before Amadio. There's no upside to having Lewis in the lineup over a developing player.

Iafallo is a borderline NHL player. They should consider scratching him if need be.

Grundstrom deserves a chance at the top 6 just as much, if not more than Iafallo.

I think out of all the players on the team Iafallo might be the most effected by hiring a competent coach with job security.

Toffoli is TRASH and needs to be emptied at the nearest dumpster.

Grundstrom has to get a legit shot at that ice time.

The pressure is on Carter, Toffoli and Kovalchuk to produce right away. I'm excited to see what Kovalchuk can do when he is properly used. I think him and Carter know what to do in the offseason to get it done. Toffoli? Don't know what to expect from him.

Nothing against the Preds really, it's just that the kings tend to **** the bed against them.

And it's a Saturday afternoon against the Preds. Feels like that's always a bad game, although I'm sure the Kings have managed to win one or two of them.

You pay Kovalchuk to stay home before you harm a prospects development. Grundstrom is ready, and if has a good camp, you don't delay his path just to wring some use out of a bad decision.

And count me among those that has seen an awful lot of promise out of Amadio. He sees things that a lot of guys can't, but hasn't been greedy enough to reach out and make that spot his and his alone. Careers are so short, its maddening to see guys like Amadio - and Kempe for that matter - not try to use their skills to be the best player they can be.

It's likely that Kovalchuk and Grundstrom aren't playing for the same spot on the team. If they were going to pay IK to stay home, they would've bought him out in June. He's going to get his minutes, and he'll be at the left point on the 1st PP, etc. You're not going to hurt a 21/22 year old by him being in the AHL. As long as he plays a bunch. If he's on the 4th line in the AHL, that's an issue, but it's doubtful he'd be in that situation there.

Carter isn't going to be sent to Ontario. This isn't Scuderi or Purcell in their last year of a contract. It's a nice fantasy, but be ready for reality.

Toffoli is TRASH and needs to be emptied at the nearest dumpster.

Grundstrom has to get a legit shot at that ice time.

They're going to give Toffoli every chance to succeed this year. If only for selfish reasons, in order to potentially get a better return in a trade. There's no way he should get a new contract from the Kings, even if he puts up 50 goals next year(maybe even especially if he puts up 50), but he's going to play.

There are 1 way and 2 way contracts for a reason. Certain guys are waiver exempt for a reason. There's a salary cap for a reason. Teams want to pay what they have to pay. You can get a general idea of what a roster will look like only looking at the contracts. Teams don't generally want to waste NHL money in the AHL. One of the reasons guy like Frk or M.Kempe are being paid $350k and $225k in the minors is so that it's that much more of a difficult option to send them down. And on the flip side, it's a little more money in case they do get sent down. Since those guys do make a ton of money at the AHL level, they'll want them to play to justify the salary, which will cut into the playing time of younger players. Since the Reign already have a couple 30+ year old's under contract in Brett Sutter and Ryan Stanton, the need for guys like Frk or MK to go down there to show the young players how to be pros is lessened.

The Kings have 25 forwards under contract that can play in at least the AHL this year. 26 if you include Sutter. 27 if you include that one guy that shouldn't be included until he ever steps on the ice again in any real physical circumstance, but if anyone wants to count him, go right ahead. Then another guy or two on a couple more AHL deals. The rosters for both teams are essentially set. Camp will likely be about maybe 1 or 2 guys who are on the fence. They can say everyone is fighting for jobs, it's all about merit, and whatever else, but $ is king. Get through this year, and then a number of spots should open up for young guys, and that's when they start getting more NHL playing time.

That's true, and he may get us a free asset. Good signing.

He might and he might not. In the meantime, having to pay him $18MM for three seasons could have impacted the Kings interest in buying a 1st round pick in the Marleau shenanigans. That would have been a better asset at a cheaper cost, plus the roster spot is open.

3rd round pick for contributing to the 2019 disaster/taking a roster spot right now/whatever money is spent in total after having to probably retain.

Seems like a sweet deal.
