Oh no, I think we all agree with that too, but that if we are going to suck up a storm, MacDermid wasn't any worse than Phaneuf last year[/QUOTE]
That doesn't mean he should play either. I would rather LaDue or Brickly or Ryan basicly someone who can play more then 12 mins get the spot. The kings need to lower Drews and Forborts time on ice. With MacD playing there mins go up more then they should

The Kings sure could use a defenseman who skates like Paul Coffey and hits like Scott Stevens.

How quickly did they ruin yet another young defenseman. Of course the Kings would finally draft a franchise defenseman in 2008, because they had no clue on how to draft and develop any until that point.

Somebody uploaded the 1995 Draft on YouTube and it's a fun retro watch. What we now know as the August Hlinka-Gretzky Cup used to be known as the Pacific Cup in the early 90s. Japan hosted for the first few years (I can only assume to drum up interest for Nagano in 1998), but Mexico City hosted in 1994. So for a few prospects, the commentators said things along the lines of "he looked great in Mexico" which would have made some sense at the time, but certainly felt out of place 20+ years later.

I remember this draft well.

We were sold on Aki "Natural Born Killer" Berg as a guy that was the most punishing bodychecker we would ever see. Could skate like the wind and... yeah, whatevs...

And all we got was, and I quote some random Kings fan from the era, "This Baby-Huey lookin' mother******"

Every time I read an article about the Lightning and see Cernak penciled into their Top 4, I die a little inside. Imagine letting Vegas take Forbort instead of McNabb too.

I agree with Cernak but I am not sure if McNabb is an upgrade over Forbort. I still wish LA would have traded Muzzin for a forward prospect who did not need protection (cough kapanen cough) and then protect them both.

Highlight of his Kings career was injuring Selanne in the last game at the Forum, prompting a fight later on that he did okay in and had the entire building chanting "Aki! Aki".

This was, of course, a pre-season game.

i don't really care about mcnabb or forbort but that cernak-bishop trade was so monumentally stupid given how little work bishop saw

gave cernak up for what, 3 or 4 games of bishop? cmon bro

Hitting on Kupari at [#20] was really clutch. At the very least, he looks like an NHL player.

Besides the obvious error in his draft position, I have long since achieved the fanboy ability to no longer count chickens before they hatch.

I learned these harsh lessons with Kevin Brown, Jeff Shevalier, and Pavel Rosa.

Cernak was so far down the depth list, nobody cared. Gravel and the like were the next wave. Once Cernak matured, things changed, and now he may turn into the best of the bunch playing for another team.

Anyone recall the last time Kings prospects were receiving this much attention?

Kupari is going to be the best drafted King forward since Kopitar. (but maybe Vilardi or Turcotte may end up being that) Difficult to know his ceiling now. He just turned 19 in March. he seems to be growing still...was 5'11 163 2 yrs ago and now listed at 6'1" 188,
but I wish we could know what these numbers were at dev camp. Everyone is saying how big he is. He probably will be 6'2" 200 in a year. Going to be a force. I think it's largely wrong to compare players to other players. No big deal if he plays in Ontario this year. He seems to have what it takes to make the Kings this year....but if he's third line and getting 12 minutes, would be best to have him playtop line in Ontario and get 20 minutes and be on the #1 PP. There should be more skill in Ontario this year. JAD, (but I bet he makes Kings) Luff may be there...Mario Kempe (has had good numbers in AHL) Martin Frk,
Lizotte (more than likely - but not shocked if he made Kings. Would mean that Lewis or someone would have to be gone by October) sure I am forgetting others. It's next year (20-21) that Fagemo, Sodergran, Thomas could be in Ontario and start actually making Ontario have some real offense. Talented D coming in now though - Durzi, Anderson (outside shot to make Kings) and Phillips.

cool quotes from 'Kupari peers'

He’s pretty big. He’s just a really good skater and so fluid laterally,” Kings 2019 first-round pick Alex Turcotte said. “I haven’t really seen anyone with his – I guess I haven’t played against anyone with the fluidity of his game at that size and with those hands. He’s definitely a really special player and really unique.”

Said 2019 second-rounder Samuel Fagemo, who played against Kupari at the World Juniors: “He’s a skill guy, a speedy guy and a good shot, too. He was tough to play against and was on a good team in Finland, too.
“Skilled guy who could make offensive plays. Good speed, good hands and an offensive-minded forward. It was really hard to play against him.”

Clifford was an effective fighter when he was reckless and young. Clifford isn't a bad fighter. He's decent, but nowadays he's breaking even in fights at best. It seems like every time he tries to connect he gets hit well.

Effective fighter is someone who can generate momentum after a fight win. Clifford doesn't in my opinion. He's got rocked too often to be reckless and hes not the same. Not a bad fighter, he's decent at best now. I hope you can find a way to get over a differing opinion.

Pls no one bring up Polak.

Personally, the best kings fighter is MacD and in recent history Jordan Nolan.

The problem with Nolan was he stopped fighting and being effective once he got suspended. he shy'd away from any altercations and it was really obvious.

Our best fighter is/was/always will be Jonathan Quick. He just doesn't fight anyone because he's afraid he might send them to the other world with one falcon punch.

This guy did pulverize both his own wrist and Corey Perry's junk with one little blocker jab. Imagine if he took a full swing, or more than one...
