You mean the TEAM rebounds. Those bums left him out to dry, including the fraud of a coach, more times last year than his entire career. It was pathetic watching forwards lolly gagging on the backcheck, trying to prevent another oddman rush.
Teams you're trying to trade Quick to will look at the stats Campbell/Petersen who played behind the same team and think otherwise.

No clue what Gusev is looking for, but he could be a nice addition if the price is right, especially if the team looks to move away from Toffoli and the Kings need someone to fill his spot in the top six. Gusev has Panarin like abilities, but more of a passer than shooter.

Gusev might be the best player in the world who's not in the NHL. He might even be better than Panarin.

I would love to see him given a chance in LA but I don't see it happening. I think he'll be sent to a team out East.

Then pull the trigger on Campbell. Like we did on any number of non-Quick goalies who barely hang on elsewhere.

you would think SOME GM would figure it out but nope. They keep going to the well for these 40-game guys who fizzle out year after year after year. Quicks, Lundqvists, Luongos that can play 60+ games and rock it are rare.

I agree. He's a little bit of a wild card but someone will throw him something obscene, I think, and they might be right, but too much of a gamble for this team probably at his age.

Maybe he’ll really want to play with Kovalchuk and Prokhorkin on our second line. Hell, they’d be our top line. All three played together at SKA Saint Petersburg.

I don't think you are putting enough weight on WHY these guys play the game they do....the vast majority of players with talent that NEVER make it to the NHL level, are because they don't have it in them to compete, sacrifice, and do what it takes to make it, once the players that do make it there, all they want to do is win, (the majority of them) ready any ex player's book, Hrudey, Gretzky, Gilmour, Hull, Dryden, Orr, go on down the list, the one thing in common, is how much they wanted to win the cup, each and every season they played..... so if Brown gets down to thinking it's his last year or two, last chance, you can absolutely be sure, he will do what he needs to do win another cup.

He's got 2.5 years before he's a playoff rental for a real contender. He gets a hotel for a couple weeks/months, no family moving, it's all good. The problem is that Brown has already won. A captain of the Cup champ, twice over. He's not chasing anything. If he was a UFA, yeah, he probably signs with a contender. He's good though. There's nothing pushing or pulling him away. He's going to be 35 in Nov. If all he does is play out the last 3 years here, without knowing him personally, I doubt he cares. I mean I'm sure he cares, but there's nothing out there for him. He can't make more money. He's already won. He's established his life.

Again, completely underestimating the level of compete that high level pro athletes have......

Completely underestimating the effect of family, age, stature with the team and the impact of already winning it twice.

He wants to win, of course. He's going to try his hardest to do it here.

I really feel like Brown likes it here and he wants to help the Kings win, in one capacity or another.

I wouldn't be surprised if after playing, he continues to work in some capacity with LA.

Which was on full display among an entire collective of high level pro athletes last year.

Brown has already said that the whole C thing changed him. He no longer takes this stuff home. He comes to the rink, puts in the work, and that's it. He's got the ring, the second one to prove the first wasn't a fluke, and that's more than most of his peers. He's not chasing history. One more Cup doesn't put him among the league's all time best. He's not breaking any league records. He's not breaking the bank on another contract at 37. He's playing out the string because he's contractually obligated to do so. He'll help the young guys because Avery was such an ass to him, which is good, because the young guys pushing from below is the only way the Kings will get back to even respectability.

If they're not playing for something in 21-22, they'll probably give Brown the choice of whether or not to be traded to a contender for one last shot.

You are probably correct. Brown may not have the fire at this point to make a run at another cup with a different team. Guys like Claude Lemieux who won it with three different teams over the years probably no longer exist.

I am perfectly okay with Brown sticking with the Kings. I see some of the stuff posted about him by other team's fans such as "worst captain to ever hoist the cup", and I kind of wish he could stick it to those fans one more time.

Scary thing when I hear "best player not in the NHL" as it reminds me of Roman Cervenka. I tend to agree Gusev looks lights out but given Vegas would be looking for futures I would not want to touch that gamble.

That’s a good one. I think of Fabian Brunnstrom.

Most of them are ignorant Sharks fans who think Joe Thornton is the best captain never to hoist the cup.

Who's our top 5 we hope to draft?

I've only seen a little bit of the top ones. I really need to see more of Lafreniere, because those numbers are tough to argue.

But I absolutely love Byfield. Lundell and Raymond both looked good in the U18 WJC this year, even though they were a year younger than everyone.

Lafreniere is a game breaking talent. A line of Lafreniere - Vilardi - Kaliyev would be pretty unreal.
