And probably going to be in Ontario. I'm assuming Walsh is his agent? My mom says I'm very handsome too.

I'm more referring Clague, Durzi and Anderson, whatever gives them more time to develop is a positive.

Not sure Ryan changes anything all that much. They go from 8 to 9 defenseman ahead of the 21 and under with potential crowd. One more injury they can afford before forcing them into a losing situation.

Price is right on both players. Was expecting a dmen addition, low cost, low expectations and Ryan fits the mold. Seems to play a steady defense first style.

Frk could be a nice addition, though I expect he's more of a Scherbak clone. But it's not costing much of anything. Again, keeping with the low expectations.

Some help for Ontario certainly will not hurt.

I figured if they did anything today it would be to get some help for the farm club.

Per Sportsnet,

At one point he was Brent Burns’ defence partner, but Ryan couldn’t stick there and come playoff time he regularly saw less than 10 minutes a game. But some of his underlying numbers are at least intriguing for a 26-year-old left-shot defenceman to become a third-pair option. At 5-on-5, Ryan’s expected goals for percentage was 53.81 and the Sharks got 52.69 per cent of the shots when he was on the ice, per Natural Stat Trick. He was sheltered for the most part, though, with 64.18 per cent of his starts coming in the offensive zone and doesn’t produce much in the way of offence.

Now he'd be a nice addition. He's only 21, scored 29 goals and 65 points in his sophomore season, and this past season netted 30 goals and 83 points.

What would a player like that cost?

In a trade? More than the Kings have to offer.

With Lehner going to the Hawks, Blake should be on the phone with Lou and offer up Quick ASAP. Seeing what Bob got today, JQ’s cap hit isn’t too bad.

Well, maybe Ryan tuns into a valid #6 guy. Probably not though.

Would rather they just rolled with what they had instead of giving him a one-way contract. Do not like this one bit for MacDermid and my entertainment value as a STHer.

Small, boring defenseman? Fun.

Could be a precursor to AMart or Forbort being shipped out at some point in the season.

So which team is most in need of a goalie right now that are left? Any potential trade partners? I was hoping Quick would go to the Islanders if he was going to get traded anywhere. At least he could be closer to his home town.

No market for our older players unless and until they show some kind of upside that a team would want for a playoff run. Otherwise we are trading picks and prospects to get someone to take them, and that's counter-productive. It's not the who (we all know who should be going out the door) - it's the when.

Seems like it is the reality. Sticking with the same/similiar roster that got us a #5 Pick. Bummer. Was hoping to have a bunch of older contracts traded. At least 1 FFS.

Compared to the contracts I've been seeing nowadays. It's less hard to move out their contracts. Quick could have easily been traded for a 3rd retention. Carters contract isn't even bad. If the Kings really wanted to move both of them I'm sure they would.

Maybe Columbus, but they have 2 goalies with NHL contracts, they're likely to take a step back in the standings, and Quick doesn't carry an average team anywhere. We've seen that, and he's even older now. There likely wasn't a big market for him anyway.

For the millionth time. Quick doesn't have any trade value.

We’re talking about statistically the worst starting goaltender in the NHL last year, who turns 34 this season, has had injuries in 2 of the last 3 seasons, and is signed for 4 more years at 5.8M.

About the only thing Jonathan Quick is going to get you in a trade is Milan Lucic. Otherwise you'd have to give up a 1st (or equivalent prospect, possibly more) to get someone to take on his contract.

Only the thing the Kings can do is wait and hope he rebounds.

Kings are not competing so AEG isn't going to get excited about retaining salary for three-to-four years in exchange for a mid-round pick. The Kings won't be doing anything with the cap space they get for the un-retained portion of whatever contract they are dealing anyways.

How much money is AEG paying--or has paid--to players/coaches/executives that weren't even in the organization during the last five years or so? Then they drop $6MM a year on a dude and get rewarded with easily one of the worst seasons in Kings history.

All they can hope for is that these older dudes rebound so they can be traded or they are actually valuable. The plan is to rebuild but they can't burn it down because too much of the broken foundation is immovable. Due to this, we're just going to be riding it out for now.

I was thinking Colombus but not entirely sure what kind of return to expect at this point due to age and injuries. I would hate to lose him for nothing if Seattle plucks him in their draft by exposing him. Should be interesting either way.

Now it's finally all on the Kings players. Nobody is being brought in to take your job but you have 41 games to prove you want to be here. Put down the beers and the babies and get to work god dammit. Show some pride in yourself and no matter what do not show up to camp with Toffoli arms or you will be cut!
Exactly. The players. Now is the time for the team to begin reinventing its identity.

It's been on the Kings players for the last four years at least. Management just kept giving them the benefit of the doubt. Those days are over now.
