The more time that passes by the more and more apparent it becomes that Blake is an idiot.

I'm thinking Forbort could be in play since he is cheap and they have to move Z off of their blue line. Dumping Marleau frees up cap space for them and they still have a good prospect pool.

I don't think we can dump a salary on them as that is not their play: we are the team that is tanking next season and can eat some salary in the meantime for a long term gain.

I have zero issue adding Marleau if the Kings can get a good prospect. Management doesn't give a shit about next season and is really all about hopefully having prospects/young guys being key contributors for 2020-21.

Don't want to beat a dead horse, but AEG doesn't offer a two year price freeze on season seats if they think next year is going to be good. Could they surprise? Sure. The plan is to hopefully see improvement from young guys on the roster and a buy-in to TM's system. JAD, Kupari etc...are going to all play together in Ontario and build chemistry together.

Wonder if Jeremy Bracco is a fit for the Kings.

Great start to the off season. After what happened at the the draft lottery, i sure don't need to read this crap! The Kings are the retirement home for past great NHL players for some reason.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Welcome to cap hell, Toronto.

Obviously the Leafs are attempting to get out from under a big contract so they can make it to opening night. The Kings, having some cap space and no ambitions to win the Cup next year, can take on an expiring contract.

Lewis & Sherbak for Marleau & a 2nd round pick/good prospect?

Before laughing at this trade, remember Marleu is on an expiring contract and we don’t need cap space for next season since we are not competing. We should be taking on a bad contract for assets if that is the deal being discussed. Maybe the deal will involve Lewis going back the other way as well.

I highly doubt this move is for the purpose of hoping Marleu rebounds and we compete for the cup.

I think Blake would love to add a good prospect for only the cost of a roster spot, although it might not even be a roster spot if a roster player went back to Toronto.

AEG doesn't even have to pay Marleau that much. They basically buy a prospect (if even that depending on if a roster player is going back) while also getting to pitch the mentor angle/someone familiar with T-Mac's system.

I'm quick to shit on Blake, but this is exactly the type of stuff he should be doing. There is no way anyone on here can bash him for thinking they were a contender last summer and then call him a moron if he's trying to get future assets for one year of Marleau on a team that we know isn't a contender anyways.

Have thought that the front office was like an Elks Lodge, but maybe the Lions Club is more appropriate.

How about Lodge 49? Blake must be the one with his head covered up.

Meh, as someone mentioned previous, I would need to see how any potential deal shakes out before reacting one way or another.

I'd easily take Marleau and then deal him at the deadline. Just make it worthwhile and I'd hope the Kings would take Zaitzev too.

That's a great angle. Marleau waives now to go to a crap team but with the caveat that Blake will flip him--even for a conditional pick if Marleau looks washed--at the deadline to a contender for his last shot at a Cup.

I personally do not want Zaitsev and the 5-years he has left @ $4.5 million. I've seen enough of him and I don't think he is anything more than a bottom pairing guy.

I thought he played fairly well his first year in Toronto but has regressed since.

How anyone could complain about a potential move like this is beyond me. This is exactly what the Kings should be doing with next year's available cap space. Would be interesting to see what Toronto would give us for taking him.
agree. or they can try to dump Dion's contract. Although doubtful that they would take back his contract even with retention.

Zaitsev makes no sense. We don’t need players with term. Straight deal for Marleu for 2020 1st. We can send Toronto someone back, like Clifford since they seemed interested in him last year. Or Forbort, who is cheap and could be okay on a second pair.

I wouldnt either but just how keen are they on getting rid of him? Might pay quite a few assets to ditch that deal.
