Some (at least one) still doesn't get it.

You win! I do predict a change in direction within two years once they figure out that absolutely no one will want to go to games anymore. That announcement is the white flag that will basically allow them to RIF their entire season seat sales department.

In the meantime, I'll be smiling behind the scenes every time they win a game knowing you'll be gnashing your teeth that they are 2 more points away from the worst record in the league...that's always been your goal anyway.

If the kids are playing a role in winning the games, it's all good. They may very well improve enough to be a black hole team. I don't think people are interested in buying tickets for that type of team though.
Blake should do whatever he can to prevent that from happening.

I will probably start attending some games in Ontario this season to check out the future.

Lol. Semantics. Nobody likes the rebuild word.

It will be a re-imagination of the roster next year hahaha.

Basically, he just told us they aren't a contender and they won't be adding impact veterans. This has been evident for months.

But they didn't say they won't be adding NON-impact veterans!

Perry, here we come!

Mayor said he thinks LA will talk with Perry. Possible bonus laden million dollar contract.
Perry could stay in the area and has friends on the Kings.

Pretty much what has been speculated on here.

I can’t see it as part of the “plan” tho. Seems counterintuitive.

GUess he's the 'source' Ek referred to

It is a step backwards. Unless Blakes plan is to get older and slower. For his part, Perry is already training (new trainer and usually doesn't train until august) and hired a skating coach. Also, TSN said he's getting alot of interest. But he did say he wants to sign with a contender, so that gets the Kings off the hook.

Could be Rutherford would give him a ride on Sid's wing.

Perry has said he wants to win a cup...

Not only does this make zero sense for the Kings, makes zero sense for Perry.

Perry rumors sound like bs to me. Blake won’t sign him. We need roster spots for the kids. I think he can make a deal to trade Kovy out with retention, but wants him to rebound under TM, which will increase his value.

They did say the "right" veterans.

Actually, with how ***** and soft this team is, he actually is the right veteran.
He is good at pretending to stumble into the crease and fall on the opposing goaltender.

The Mayor and Eklund are two birds of a feather when it comes to these type of rumors.

It' seems a little late in Perry's career to dedicate himself to a training regimen, and get a skating coach, but hey more power to him if he is willing to put in the work.

He doesn't have to win the Cup on July 1st. I doubt anything will happen, as in I don't think the Kings are doing much adding or subtracting between today and mid Sept. However, for the sake of argument, say Perry doesn't want pick up and leave the area for an entire season. I'm sure arrangements can be made if needed, these guys are of course very well paid. But, sign with the Kings, it doesn't have to be a whole thing, and play your way to a contender at the deadline. If he sucks, a contender wouldn't want him. If he sucks, the real contender he signed with would want to get rid of him as the season drags along anyway.

Why would the first home game of the season be against Nashville on a Saturday afternoon? Not that there's any excitement about next year no matter who plays in that game, but every Nashville on a Saturday afternoon is always the worst game of the year every year.

They plan on making moves after two seasons anyways. They look at it like they've been retooling this entire time by not trading any prospects or picks while also signing UDFAs and acquiring more prospects/picks via trade. They will do the same for the next two years and then be ready to see what is out there for a bigger splash. They should have a ton of financial flexibility.

AEG is fully on board. I've pounded it repeatedly on here, but AEG doesn't give two year price freezes on season seats if they expect a lot of interest in renewals for next season or 2021. The dye was cast with the Muzzin trade with the only logical path leading to where we are now with what Management is saying. Price freeze, five year T-Mac contract, Dion buy-out. Doesn't mean they are straight tanking as I believe they will be extremely disappointed with another season like the last one. I look at this season kind of like the one in Doughty's first season. That led to the Schenn pick at #5. I think they are looking at a pick from 6-10 if they don't win the lottery. Continue to improve in to the following season of 2021. Maybe the pick to be made in a couple of hours is contributing at that point. It hopefully snowballs from there and that off-season is when Blake can start adding established guys.

As for cheering for losses, it is more of a solace thing when they lose that it at least helps in someway as opposed to losing when you are actually a contender. Actively rooting against is something the majority of us here don't do. We know there is no guarantee of whee you pick except how far you can drop: that is still important.

I would have a hard time rooting for a team with Katy Perry on it. Hope she wants to play for a contender and keep her away from the Kings.

Might as well get the season started off on the right foot.

Any chance of us nabbing Ehlers from Winnipeg? He's exactly what we need.
This would be a huge get for LA, but expect this one to be a serious hockey trade where we have to give up something valuable and low paid. I'd guess a JAD or Clague as a starter and go from there or they'd probably also ask for a Kupari. After getting Turcotte yesterday who knows maybe LA might consider it. He doesn't draw top ice time but he seriously produces and is really FAST so he'd be a great player to find a way to bring in.

Yeah, people probably won't want to give up the asset(s) required to get a 23 year old that's done something at the NHL level.

With the cap ceiling set at $81.5M, the Kings have roughly $14M in cap space to re-sign Adrian Kempe, Brendan Leipsic (should he return), Alex Iafallo, Michael Amadio and Matt Roy.

Non-roster RFAs include Cal Petersen, Daniel Brickley and Sheldon Rempal.

The the departures of Lintuniemi, Scherbak, Iacopelli, Jenys, and Zack Mitchell, that should clear up spots for younger players in Ontario.

Are we really starting next season with this shit?...

Kovalchuk-Kopitar-Brown
Iafallo-Prokhorkin-Toffoli
Grundstrom-Kempe-Carter
Clifford-Lewis-Luff/Wagner
Amadio

Forbort-Doughty
Martinez-Walker
MacDermid/Clague-Roy/Ladue

That’s terrible. Methinks Blake tried to move a couple of these guys(Ladue/Forbort/Lewis) at the draft for picks but no one wanted them lol...
