Plan B for Fixing Penn Station Would Wrap Madison Square Garden in Glass

If the Garden and Penn State did divorce, what are alternate sites and what would transportation there be like?

I would hate for the Garden to end up where only one line runs. I remember being on the 7 when the Mets were playing the Dodgers and it looked like this:

Seriously, they’d need to build something new if they’re pushing them to Hudson Yards

As I get older, I care less and less about asthetics and just want whatever the current set-up is to be clean and well-maintained.
And having a proper ice surface would be nice

And if they do rebuild, they better do it right.

Not some half-assed concoction of a sporting venue like Metlife Stadium. That place sucks, so badly.

New York, NY is the official name of the city.

I mean, you can root for out-of-area teams if you want -Leo likes the Ducks- but we're not moving to where you live.

Going to a game in Anaheim vs NYC is not better it's just different. I enjoy going into the city for a game, but I also enjoy the smaller market team as well in Orange County, CA. It gives me a different perspective with two different markets and fan bases.

With that said, as much as it would be convenient for me if the Rangers move to the suburbs it would not be the same. Would miss that NYC feeling to it. Plus it only takes me 45mins to an hour to get to the city, not a big deal.

If the Garden must move, I want EVERYTHING. 25k capacity, roof that opens, huge concourses, more bathrooms, tons of shopping, lots of leg room, a horn that makes the floor shake... or, you know, ice that doesn't suck ass.

Penn Station takes up 3 city blocks and one avenue length. When you take out Penn station and leave just MSG, it can sit on two city blocks and one avenue.

So now you need to find that real estate in NYC if you want to have the team remain in the city. Brooklyn has Barclays, I doubt they would take it there. Queens doesn't have one, but UBS is literally on the border of Queens and Nassau county.

I don't know where you find the space in Manhattan to do this without buying out the space, demolishing what is already there, and then building the stadium.

That or you are going to build over one of the parks in the city. I would never say never, but Dolan would have some balls to want it inside of Central Park. You want to talk about scenic, plus on top of that, they do a huge viewing party outside of the stadium.

As much as I love MSG and NY Sports teams, Central Park is 100 times more important to the identity of this city.

Anything involving Central Park is an automatic non-starter. Honestly, knowing Dolan, even typing that suggestion online as a joke makes the hairs on my neck stand up.

There's actually a huge amount of unused real estate (possibly in legal limbo?) between E 38 and E 41 between 1st Ave and the FDR Drive, just south of the United Nations. The mass transit there is lacking, but the space is the space.

Could you imagine the outrage of all the folks in Tudor City if this happens? Lol.

That's like the only neightborhood in midtown that has any resemblance of old world charm left.

If they were to get a new building Hudson yards is the most likely location IMO. Deck over the rail yard and build a waterfront version of UBS. If anything a new area would at least justify ticket price increases and we’d have no obstructions

That's where the casino is going.
