Very good point! I agree.

The forwards have sucked, yes.

But you HAVE TO have a good PMD on your PP if you want to score on the PP. We cant get into the zone because none of our D are true PMD that know how to enter the zone. This is why I'm still pissed that we traded Del Zotto...he has his problems but one thing he knows how to do is skate well and move the puck up the ice.

So yes, add PMD to list of things we clearly lack.

Yes, amazing that the Del Zotto trade might have hurt our PP?

Anybody have a contact on the Rangers coaching staff. This article should be posted in the locker room in Pittsburgh for motivation.

They would, but that space on the bulletin board is filled with the team printout of all the best golf courses in the new york area.

Anyone who would want Stepan over Statsny is just kidding themselves.

Also, I'm getting real tired of this "treadmill" team we know and love. Just good enough to get in the playoffs, maybe win a round or two. Sometimes miss the playoffs. Struggle to get in. Etc.

Series is over. Fat chance they are going to win 3 games in a row.

:help:

First off, I don't want Stastny.

That being said, a one-two punch fo Stasnty and Stepan is extremely intriguing and a MASSIVE upgrade on what we have now. Especially if we can find a way to keep Brassard as the #3.

I'm not saying that Stasny isn't better than Stepan. Of course he is. But you're still going to need a #2 center and Stepan is just fine for that.

I dont want to make yet another long-term investment to yet another player that is not an upper-echelon 1C. So, I don't want Stastny.

I don't know how this became a Stepan vs. Stastny thing anyway - but I'd probably take Stepan at half the cost and for far less years next season.

I cant believe its a question of Nash or Richards. Richards has been consistently awful and clearly on the decline, no question about it. Nash has just not played as expected. I also think he deserves a summer off since he has played differently since the concussion. Pairing people with Richards/Hagelin is asking for that person to fail IMO. Richards got a chance this year and has proven to not have it(at the price hes being paid) anymore. I think time off for Nash may work out in the Rangers favor. More time with Brad outside of a 3rd/4th line role is a waste of the teams time.

That THN article is spot on, and it's true about our prospect pool as well. I've been saying it for a while now, Gordie Clark is overrated. Where are the impact players that teams draft? The few that we have drafted we traded. #InGordieWeBust

Buy out Richards. I believe Nash can still fetch something in a trade. Buy out Richards, trade Nash.

Problem with trading Nash is that any team he would want to go to probably couldn't afford him and vice versa.

I'm talking about making moves that would indicate an organizational shift.

Significant transactions.

Package any 2 of Girardi, Staal, Stepan, Hagelin, J. Moore.

Let Stralman walk.

Trade Nash at the draft

Buy out Richards.

The guys I would target are guys that skate very well. Guys that look to engage physically. Compliment those guys with a few talened FA's like a Stastny.

The two guys I would target and press for are Evander Kane and Dustin Byfuglein.

A one-two punch of Kreider and Kane on the LW would be nice.

Having Big Buff point shot on the PP would be a dangerous weapon. I would also employ him as a RW'er.

See what the Ducks would want for Smith-Pelley

Generally speaking, I just do not like the overall make up of this team, and right now, I want 90% of them gone.

I should just stop typing and let the disappointment fade.

This is exactly the thing. We're a treadmill team right now. We're good enough to get into the playoffs, and we're also bad enough to potentially miss it. There's no real chance of this team winning a cup. We're stuck in a bad purgatory.

Only thing that I am glad about is that the pressure shifts to Pittsburgh now. They have to deliver the finishing blow, if the Rangers plant a seed of doubt with game 5 this series is far from over.

If you think that there is more pressure on the team with the 3-1 series lead than the team with the deficit, I don't know what to say.

I work thats so I can only listen to the games. They didn't mention this on the radio. Was there a flying elbow? Headshots? I saw Nash hit Crosby. That didn't look like he was headhunting though.

This team needs to avoid playing the penguins in the playoffs. They could never beat lemieux and jagr, they will never beat Crosby and malkin. You can't play puck possession and speed when the team you are playing against is better than you at the exact same game.

Nash did ring Crosby bell a little but that's because he kinda ducked just before Nash hit him. Later Staal went high on Crosby after a whistle in front of Hank. Crosby got out the way then said to the ref "what the **** was that?"

This is the thing. When Dolan is serious about competing and wants to win a Stanley Cup, he'll fire his good pal in Glen Sather. Dolan just cannot be serious about winning with Sather as the GM. Sather has had his chance to make this team into a contender and continues to fail miserably. Hire someone who isn't senile, and maybe, just maybe, the franchise will actually win some. I know, it sounds crazy, doesn't it? Until then, this team will never been viewed as a serious contender.

I honestly don't even want Stastny. He'll just come to NY and suck like all of the other supposed "stars" that this team has acquired in the last 10 years or so. And when he does suck, we won't have a compliance buy out to bail us out for the insane contract that we would sign him to.

Let's face it. Look at the some of the elite teams in the league. Take the Bruins, Blackhawks, Penguins, and Kings for example. Boston drafted Krejci, Bergeron, Lucic, and Marchand. The Penguins drafted Crosby, Letang, Malkin, and Maata. The Blackhawks drafted Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabrook, Crawford, and Shaw. The Kings drafted Kopitar, Doughty, Voynov, Brown, and Quick. My point is that you build a winning team through the draft, while surrounding that core with pieces brought in along the way in trading and such. The guys that Rangers have drafted and developed don't even match up to what these others teams have drafted over the years. Who's the best forward we've developed? Stepan? Kreider? Those other four teams did way better than the Rangers at drafting. And don't say it's because those franchises sucked, and just acquired top 5 picks for 3-4 years straight. Keith was a 2nd round pick. Shaw was a 5th round pick. Voynov was a 2nd round pick. Bergeron was a 2nd round pick. Lucic was a 2nd round pick. Krejci was a 2nd round pick. Marchand was a 3rd round pick. The Rangers have monumentally failed at drafting over the last decade or so when compared to the true championship contenders of the sport.

Until we improve in the draft, we will always be pretenders. Always.

The list stops at 2010 for some reason :)

We were down 3-2 in that series, not 3-1. It was tied 2-2 and we lost at home in Game 5, then won game 6 and Game 7 back at MSG.

Problem with trading Nash is that any team he would want to go to probably couldn't afford him and vice versa.

We could eat some of his salary. Maybe 1.5-2Mil. I wouldn't be opposed to that. He looks a lot better at 5.8 then 7.8.

Also you think Rangers fans hate Nash, if we got Big Buff, it would be ten fold.

I think you have the best of intentions, but I think the constant shuffling of mercenaries in high-level roster spots would just lead to more of the same.

If they truly wanted to, I have no doubt it could be done. But they won't.

Well sure ANYTHING could be done if they truly wanted to. They could trade him and take on half his salary in exchange for a box of Pop Tarts but I imagine they're going to want something resembling fair value.
