Who is paying him? That's who he has a contract with. What are YOU talking about? I'm sure there's tons of documents to be signed when players are traded making those contracts the responsibilities of the clubs they signed with.

You're making pretty simply stuff really complicated.

Contract is not amended with trade. Don't like the contract?back off trade.
Why would someone want to rid of Nash anyway? Whom are you going to replace him wit? Nash will be fine next season. Anyone may get "Zherdev Sindrom" in playoffs. He has to learn. He will. I can't recall any team that went anywhere w/o #1D. MCD is injured. End of story.

Funny, I heard that about Nash after last year's playoffs...

You have not been around those 7 non-playoff years, have you?

been a fan since the 70's....sorry

and if you have been around for all those non playoff years then I can't begin to understand why you are happy about this season. This season in Ranger's history is like many of their previous seasons which is a lesson in mediocrity. Since I've been a fan this has pretty much been the norm barring a few seasons. I don't understand where your optimism can even begin to come from, especially if you were around during those 7 non playoff years like you claim. Unless you are one of those silver lining types of fan which views the glass half full and loves moral victories....then this is the organization for you I guess

After those 7 non playoff years the furthest this team went was to the ECF ONCE in 2012 which we should have won and a bunch of 1st round and 2nd round exits plus missing the playoffs in 2010. After the non playoff years and the 05 lockout every season with this team there is too much drama in even making the playoffs with the exception 0f 2012. Again how the **** are you happy with that?

Don't you want this team going further than the 2nd round for once?....a finals appearance for once...hell maybe even a cup!....94 was 20 years ago....being happy with mediocrity gets redundant

the bruins were poorly run for years after the neely/bourque era and they have even managed to right the ship....this organization will always be the same

This has little or nothing to do with anything I've said. Never said I wanted Nash gone, I've acknowledged McD's injury/play, and didn't say the Rangers shouldn't accept his contract. Not sure who you're arguing with, but it certainly isn't me

I've been a fan since the 70's too. In a 30 team league where 46% of teams don't make it EVERY year, making it 8 out of 9 with the miss being on the last shot of a SO in the last game isn't "mediocre". It just isn't. No Finals is disappointing and Sather could be better, but at least this team is there nearly every year

everyone one of those years there was much tension in even making the playoffs barring 2012...you said it yourself...2010 came down to a shootout...to me that's mediocre...we only won our division once since 1994 and that was in 2012...that's .mediocrity...below that is poor not making the playoffs....above that is winning our division or just making the playoffs more comfortably on a consistent basis...that's good

I really think they play better on the road because they don't feel the pressure of having to 'perform' for the home fans.

It's ridiculous sounding, but its human psychology. They feel natural pressure to put on a good performance and a good show for the home crowd. When doing this, they press and don't play a simple game.

On the road, they don't have to worry about anything but playing good hockey. Its easier to do this on the road.

I truly think they will play a good game tomorrow, and hopefully they can pull out a win.

I still believe and I still retain hope until its truly over.

If that's true, it's such a testament to how ass-backwards this team's mentality and mental fortitude is. Can play in front of ~20k away fans booing you for anything resembling good play or puck possession and cheering wildly when you fall over or mishandle the puck without much issue, but can't handle geting booed at home for piss poor effort and terrible decision making for 55 minutes.

No. Mediocrity would be not making the playoffs in 4 of those 9 years. Not 1. ECF's, 7 playoff rounds in 3 years, 40+ wins in what 6 or 7 of 9 seasons? It's above average. Is it satisfying? Is it the Finals? Is it a Cup? No, no, and no. But, it isn't mediocre. Period.

we'll just have to agree to disagree.....I expect more after a certain amount of time....redundancy without achieving the ultimate goal imo is a form of mediocrity...this organization does not aspire for more and it's clearly evident

There are tons of teams that have achieved a lot less since the lockout than we have in terms of playoff appearances, regular season wins, and playoff round wins. Leafs. Jets. Isles. Panthers. Flames. Oilers. Blues. Senators. Flyers. Devils. Wild. Jackets. Caps. Sabres. Avs. 'Yotes. Preds. Habs. <- that's 18 teams right there that have been worse than us since the lockout in terms of playoff appearances and round wins.

Then there are one hit wonders. TB. 'Canes. Stars. Are the 'canes better than mediocre because they had one great season? How many playoff appearances since the lockout. TB? Dallas.

There perennial disappointments. Canucks. SJ. Did these two achieve a lot more than we did? Both of them were huge disappointments since the lockout. Especially this year.

I'd rate the 'hawks, wings, bruins, la, ducks, pens as ahead of the NYR.

Not elite, but not "mediocre". Better than average. But not good enough.

He has more important issues to take care of.

Yup. If this was a lingering/long term illness than it might explain a few things. This MSL hasn't been the MSL that we've all seen over the years. He'll be better next year.

Paraphrasing a quote about soccer/football but hockey is the nicest minor thing in the world. MSL, take care of your family.
