Andrew Gross was referring to Rick Nash's contract with the Rangers. I assumed you would have realized that. Why would he refer to his contract from years ago with the CBJ?

"If a player waives a clause to accept a trade to a new team, it is rare he will do so without a promise that the acquiring team will continue to honour the clause."

This is why he still has a NMC and NTC.

He didn't sign a contract with the Rangers

what are you talking about?

Section No. 11.8 of the CBA:

11.8 Individually Negotiated Limitations on Player Movement.
(a) The SPC of any Player who is a Group 3 Unrestricted Free Agent under Article
10.1(a) may contain a no-Trade or a no-move clause. SPCs containing a no-Trade or a no-move
clause may be entered into prior to the time that the Player is a Group 3 Unrestricted Free Agent
so long as the SPC containing the no-Trade or no-move clause extends through and does not
become effective until the time that the Player qualifies for Group 3 Unrestricted Free Agency.
If the Player is Traded or claimed on Waivers prior to the no-Trade or no-move clause taking
effect, the clause does not bind the acquiring Club. An acquiring Club may agree to continue to
be bound by the no-Trade or no-move clause, which agreement shall be evidenced in writing to
the Player, Central Registry and the NHLPA, in accordance with Exhibit 3 hereof.

Okay, but why on earth would THE PLAYER agree to that? The player is the one waiving his NTC/NMC in the first place. You can point out the above but, to my recollection, it's NEVER happened and probably never will because the player has all the marbles.

Who is paying him? That's who he has a contract with. What are YOU talking about? I'm sure there's tons of documents to be signed when players are traded making those contracts the responsibilities of the clubs they signed with.

You're making pretty simply stuff really complicated.

I know, but I'm making the point that the original person who tweeted Andrew Gross, was asking if Nash could be traded. Gross said no, because of his NMC, and NTC.

You kept stating that if he waived his NTC to go to the Rangers, then it would be null and void when he got to the Rangers, meaning he wouldn't have a NTC anymore. I said many times that he kept in place all of that with the 'new' contract. Not meaning new, but his now contract being under the Rangers control.

As the definition on CapGeek states:

"If a player waives a clause to accept a trade to a new team, it is rare he will do so without a promise that the acquiring team will continue to honour the clause."

This is why he still has a NMC and NTC.

Same contract, different team.

I am happy with this season. New coach got someone's team and made to second round. Not bad. PIT was a well established team with questionable goalie. Once MAF proved that assessment about himself wrong, it's time to schedule some golf time. Rangers as they are cannot play any better. They cannot beat PIT PK which is well coached. Nash isn't Malkin, Richards is no Neal, let alone Crosby. Lundqvist played one game lights out and was admirable otherwise. Thank you very much. They have to try to force game 6 being relaxed and appreciated. STOP ALL CRITISISM!!! They did well.

please...just stop

I would say its safe to assume that Rick demanded his NMC stayed in place, but nothing tweeted by Gross says that.

From Gross' tweets, it sounds like hes not even aware what the rule is.

Rangers don't have the killer instinct so clearly they'll win the next one

exactly...then everyone here will get there hopes up in typical ranger's fan fashion only to be let down when we lose game 6 at the Garden

Who know maybe this time they will really get everyones' hopes up and win games 5 and 6!!....only to lose game 7

if they ever got to game 7 it would be pretty impressive.

this feels like every other second round loss since the 05 lockout.

totally outclassed, out coached, outplayed, clear level below our opponent.

its a damn shame that despite the fact the rosters have changed so much, its really the same thing every year.

besides 2012, where we actually should have gotten to the final and still ****ed it up.

This team doesn't have enough resiliency to win a Game 5. They'll just roll over and lose. It's almost golfing season guys!

With the way things are going, I would be very happy going back to MSG and try to force a game 7

They only have to win tomorrow. Once they do, the pressure is back on Pittsburgh to NOT lose Game 6 which would force a Game 7 which is up for grabs.

"only"

LOL. ;)

I really think they play better on the road because they don't feel the pressure of having to 'perform' for the home fans.

It's ridiculous sounding, but its human psychology. They feel natural pressure to put on a good performance and a good show for the home crowd. When doing this, they press and don't play a simple game.

On the road, they don't have to worry about anything but playing good hockey. Its easier to do this on the road.

I truly think they will play a good game tomorrow, and hopefully they can pull out a win.

I still believe and I still retain hope until its truly over.

We'll be down 6-0 in the 3rd when Nash pots a hat trick before losing 6-3 and he'll tell reporters after "best playoffs ever".
