that was my answer...

Nash is clearly a 5M player, so the rangers would have to eat about 2.5M in salary... Quite frankly, though it is lost cap space, the bottom 6 actually functioning can make up for this 3M...

It's an odd way to "do the math", but it's accurate.

Nash is "clearly" a $5M player? Based on what? How are you clearly determining that is his worth in the current state of NHL finances?

I find some comfort in the fact that we have Hank and McDonagh on the books. Ryan is obviously not 100 which has really hurt us and Hank is Hank. He just had arguably his worst season and posted close to elite numbers. But that's not why I lean on them, I lean on them because they care. They really do. We can build around them.

Good point... We have some hard workers in zucc, d moore, and Boyle as well

Last year I said I'd give Nash another playoff run before passing judgement; Rick Nash, you are a...ugh, you are literally Bottom: turned into a ****ing donkey by the mischievous Puck.

It's not every day we get an A Midsummer Night's Dream reference on a god damned hockey message board.

Well played, sir. Well played.

I'm not giving up yet. I won't be that fan that mails it in a game early only to be surprised by a 3 game comeback

good luck with that

However, it doesn't look good. There's a lot to do. At least Henrik and McDonagh seemed like they cared. I noticed something in Henrik's presser. He was asked a question and part of his response was along these lines (not a direct quote): "We need to get puck luck. I believe you earn your bounces by how hard you work. Lately we haven't been getting bounces."

To me, it seemed like he was indirectly saying the team isn't working hard enough out there.

All these offseason roster moves are premature. Come Friday night, if they lose, or Sunday night, or Tuesday night, we can start dissecting the offseason.

I refuse to give up hope that they can turn it around. You Yankees fan saw what Boston did to you in 04. LA did it this year down 3-0. Giants fans know what type of miracles can happen..

those teams had what it takes to make those comebacks....the rangers never did and certainly not now

This **** isn't over..

yes it is

Like I said, I'm not too optimistic about our chances, but I won't mail in the season a game early.

Might as well get ahead of things and make better use of your time instead of wasting it in the hope they comeback...perhaps if they win the next 2 and make it interesting watching game 7 wouldn't be a waste. Fans give much more to this team/organization than they have ever given us....it's time they stop...but that won't happen

NEW YORK – He was the player that was going to help bring New York its first Stanley Cup since 1994.

He was the sniper missing from a low-scoring outfit that had missed the Stanley Cup Final by two wins.

He was the missing piece that was going to turn the Rangers into a championship team.

Instead, Rick Nash has one goal in 23 postseason games since joining the franchise before the 2012-2013 season.

Series isn't over. But there's like a .5% chance we win.

Maybe so, but consider this:

* We finally solved MAF. 2 goals on 15 shots. Plant that seed of doubt in his head and his game can turn south real fast
* Key is to get the first goal in Pitt and gain some confidence
* Rangers seem to play better on the road
* Will likely play better with less pressure as it's win or go home
* We get another 45 hours or so to rest so fatigue should become less of a factor
* Kreider now has his playoff legs under him and should be better

What.

That means there will be even MORE pressure to win to keep the season alive...

But, I agree with your overall point. We shouldn't give up, and this series is still attainable.

this team has shown time and time again that they are incapable of winning 2 consecutive games in a given series -- but now we are going to win 3?!?!? two of which being in Pittsburgh?!? Don't hold your breath.

Exactly! I said the exact same thing before....I love all the optimists here and also the people clinging to desperate hope....it's not happening people...they may win the next game but that's it and this series is over. this team shows no resiliency and our best players are crap except henrik...let's get real

This league is weird. The Kings lost game one and two of the Sharks series by WIDE margins and were down 3-0...I can guarantee you that Kings fans never had any thoughts of winning that series after game three.

No, I am not saying it's likely by any stretch of the imagination...but it's still possible.

Teams have trailed 3-1 in a best-of-seven series a total of 229 times and have come back to win the series on 20 occasions or 8.7% of the time.

Our last (and only i think) occurance of this is back in 2009, when we were up 3 - 1 against the Caps, and they won 4 - 3.

I disagree 100% with the booing of individual players stance you have taken.

Not only were they booing Nash and MSL, but they also booed the team off the ice. I think it was all deserved. I'm not going to sit here and say I think it's embarrassing. What else can fans do to send a message?

Booing individual players of your own team is not the way to send a signal.
It's a way to increase their lack of confidence, and make them play even more bad.
It's a stupid thing to do.

thank you for sharing this and taking the time to look it up. it really sheds much light on just how possible it is to win at this point.

Even though I'm saying it's over I can't deny I still have a shred of hope....but just a shred...some people have too much

sorry but when people are paying upwards of 200 dollars for one ticket to watch this horror show they have every right to boo....the organization in general needs one giant boo...and if the players confidence can be rattled by fans booing then they aren't true professionals capable of playing under pressure. and so far from what we have seen this seems to be the case... it's the right thing to do...this is nyc and people here won't cheer for 15 shots on goal and 3 crappy games in a row. you're telling me cheering despite all this would be the right signal?

Nash in the postgame interview, it looks like he could be in better shape. Losing weight can mean increased stamina. Some more resistance. He certainly could be more resistant and he'd look better if there isn't stripes of fat running down his face.
.

I like the way you harass a persons appearance for no reason. This post is tasteless

unless he is writing to rick nash and calling him a fatty I don't think you can label that as harassment of any kind

he also makes a valid point, even though he makes fun of his "fat lines" while doing so. maybe Nash would play better if he was in better shape. Devoting some extra time to adding muscle and losing fat, especially if needed, can help an athletes performance and stamina.

Nash always looked a bit on the chubby side for a hockey player, to me at least anyway.

I hate to be the negging one, but if you think that Nash is an untrained individual you're sorely mistaken.

His appearance, and especially the face since that is what we actually see, is purely about genetics, you can be shredded and still have a poofy face. Hell there are professional footballers that play midfield who have double chin.

Nash's issue is not conditioning, its his mental fortitude

Rangers don't have Anze "Give me the Conn Smythe now, pls" Kopitar and Marian "lol Rick Nash" Gaborik to help win 3 straight.
