People were still expecting a 1st round pick and/or prospect. I guess that's why they're disappointed. They were mostly expecting to see the entirety of Petry's cap hit to be gone without taking much in return.. so we could sign some big guys (see PLD)
That makes sense that the return disappointed people if that was what they had envisioned.
But the truth is, Hughes said this is what would happen. He did say that if he would trade Petry, he'd go out and get another vet D to replace him in the line-up and be able to take those minutes rather than just throw one of the young D there and ruin their development if they're not ready yet.
He just ended up doing both in the same deal.
