Blake had better not trade Vilardi for Dubois on a 1-year deal, even with an agreement on an extension after New Year's. Knowing Dubois' past and that he wants to go to Montreal, I don't trust him to keep his word and resist the temptation to walk to free agency. Blake will deserve to be fired if that happens.

Which year was Danault's best year? He has scored more goals each year while on the Kings. Had his most points in a season as a King. Not sure what you are perceiving.......

I guess doubling up on your previous high goal total for the year can up your value. ??????

That's the result of having a bit more offensive duties and playing with wingers who are slightly better at passing the puck, or at least more disposed to do so than Brandon Gallagher, meaning that he's shooting more the puck. Shooting for 14% will also bring somewhat unsustainable totals who were, indeed, not sustained.

But there's a reason why Tatar - Danault - Gallagher was one of the strongest 5-on-5 line in the league for 3 straight years. Danault is still pretty much the same player. A LOT of people didn't quite know what we had with Danault and were adamant that he shouldn't get offered a penny more than 3.5M. They were idiots then, and they're still idiots.

Im going to start by saying that I'm a fan of Montreal, I don't want to sound rude, but why is Winnipeg not taking the opportunity to rebuild?

With Helleybuck, Wheeler, Dubois and possibly Scheifele leaving in the short term, the team is bound to have worse results.

They still have a fair amount of high end talent (Connor, Ehlers, Morrissey and Perfetti). They also have a decent collection of veteran D-Men (Schmidt, Pionk, DeMelo, Dillon ), several young D-men and a solid collection of complementary players (Lowry Barron, Appleton, Niederreiter )

If they can get the right pieces back this can still be a competitive team, and hopefully one that has moved past the locker room friction of the last few years. At the very least they are pretty well positioned to a quick bounce off the bottom if their goal tending implodes in the next year or two.

Deal is not happening otherwise it would have been done.
Blake's offer probably expires tomorrow.
PLD probably wants more to play not in Montreal.
Gabe's agent already countered with a lower offer.
Blake Put Luc and Bergey on timeout.
Arvi is the offer and they want Iafallo.
The weird planetary alignment is over.

Am I just way off here or is Dubois just not good enough to deal with all of the headache that is coming with him?

I know Kopitar is old, but the Kings still have Kopitar and Danault as top-6 centers and Byfield probably as a top-6 center in the future. I just don't really see the need here to deal with this, it would make a lot more sense for them to be going after Hellebuyck IMO.
Hellebuyck is so much more valuable than Dubois on the ice. But age and positional value are in PLD favour and against Helle

You bring up a very interesting point.

Sounds like Chev drummed up all of these rumours to drive up the obvious low ball offers hes been getting from the Habs. Doubt Hughes is buying it.

Chevy doesn't leak to the media, he runs an extremely tight ship and plays the game different than almost all other GMs. Anything you're hearing came from PLD's agent, or other teams.

Breaking News....

Netflix is now interested in a mini series about this trade. It's called The Dubois Saga.

Denzel Washington is playing Dubois and Angelina Jolie is playing Cheveldayoff. There is also a scene where Jet/Hab fans go to war like the opening scene of the Gladiator....but with rubber hockey sticks and poutine catapult bombs.

It's a must miss series.

Helle is what 30 years old? Heard he is looking to cash in on a long term deal that's a big no. He deserves it just not on the Kings.
